THE PROBLEM Before measuring your blood pressure, you should sit quietly for a few minutes. That sounds simple – until you have just climbed stairs, are stressed, or are measuring between appointments. Your body often needs longer to settle down again. Your blood pressure may be temporarily higher. But how do you know when you are calm enough for measurement? BP Ready helps you assess this. During the resting phase, the app monitors your pulse at your wrist. A calm, steady pulse pattern serves as guidance while preparing for your measurement. HOW IT WORKS 1. CHOOSE A MODE Select “Regular” or “ACC” from the menu. Regular: Sit down, breathe calmly, and move as little as possible. After a 90-second countdown, the watch briefly checks your pulse. You then take one measurement. ACC: Structured home measurement following American recommendations. Sit quietly for five minutes, then measure twice with a one-minute break. The watch counts down the break and notifies you for the second measurement. Both readings are saved separately; the watch then shows the average. 2. OPTIONAL: 30-MINUTE CHECK When enabled, BP Ready checks before starting whether your pulse was noticeably elevated during the last 30 minutes, for example after climbing stairs. If so, the watch displays “Not yet” and the waiting time. If too little pulse data is available, the countdown starts immediately. 3. ENTER VALUES Measure with a suitable blood pressure monitor and enter systolic and diastolic values on the watch. The pulse averaged during the resting phase is added automatically. 4. SAVE AND REVIEW The last 20 measurements are available on the watch. Under “Latest Data”, BP Ready color-codes home measurements: • Regular / European limits: orange from 120/70, red from 135/85. • ACC / American limits: orange from 120, red from 130/80, purple from 135/85. When the watch and smartphone are connected and BP Ready is running, new measurements are transferred automatically. From the watch, open your personal analysis and export page on your smartphone. There you will find: • table of measurements • blood pressure charts • calendar overview • CSV export for Excel, REDCap, SPSS, and other medical software • Garmin FIT export and import link for Garmin Connect NO USER ACCOUNT REQUIRED Your Garmin watch is your personal key. You need no user account, password, or email address. Your data is assigned to a device identifier, not to your name, email address, or Garmin account. Analysis and export are accessible only through a link generated by the watch, valid for 15 minutes. IMPORTANT BP Ready does not measure blood pressure, is not a medical device, and does not provide a diagnosis. The app supports calm measurement preparation and documents readings from an external blood pressure monitor. Blood pressure is not a fixed value. Breathing, minor muscle tension, vascular regulation, and the measurement situation all affect it. It is therefore useful to observe it over several weeks, as far as possible at the same time and under comparable conditions. BP Ready makes longer-term changes visible through averages, monthly views, and charts. This helps you and your doctor interpret the documented trend.
