Descrição

Nordlys gives you the chance of seeing the northern lights for every hour of tonight, worked out for the exact spot where you stand. It takes the Kp forecast and the live solar wind from NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center through your phone, and combines them on the watch with your geomagnetic latitude, how dark the sky is, where the moon is and how cloudy the next twelve hours look. The big number is the chance right now, or tonight's best chance during the day, with the moment to go out: "Look north 23:40". When the Bz turns south and the chance jumps above your limit, the watch alerts you, even with the app closed. Without a connection it keeps working on the last data and tells you how old it is. Works for the southern lights too. WHAT IT DOES - Chance 0-100 % per hour for tonight, with the best moment to 10 minutes - Your geomagnetic latitude from GPS and the edge of the auroral oval for the current Kp - Distance to the oval and the Kp at which it is overhead - Darkness from the sun's altitude, moon phase and height, hourly clouds (up to 12 h) - Kp outlook for 3 days with storm levels (G1-G5) - Live solar wind: Bz, Bt and speed - Alerts above a threshold you choose, at most once every 3 hours unless the chance climbs further - Glance with the chance now and tonight's peak, always up to date WHAT IT NEEDS - A paired phone with Garmin Connect for the NOAA data (no account, no key) - GPS once for your location; weather in Garmin Connect for clouds - The chance is an estimate from public forecast data, not a guarantee
