ZULU TACTICAL is a military watch face for Instinct 3 and Instinct E with no layout settings. It is the zero-base redesign of ZULU: one fixed layout, every reading at 6x9 pixels or larger, and only what a soldier checks at a glance. WHAT IS ON THE FACE - Local time in large stencil digits, 24-hour always, with seconds - ZULU (UTC) time and date in the sub-screen, for reports and radio - Grid: full MGRS with the grid zone, 100 km square and 8 digits (54S UE 8843 4929), from the last known position - Light for the whole day on one bar: day, twilight (checker) and night. The hours around now are magnified with a tick every 10 minutes and three hours labeled; the rest of the day is compressed between the 00 and 24 marks. The moon line runs under it (thick when the moon is high and bright enough for night vision) - Next light event with time to go: BMNT, SR, SS or EENT, for example SS 1740 T-3:08 - Battery, next moonrise or moonset, moon phase and illumination STATUS IN WHITE-ON-BLACK Warnings share one look, a white box: - BT: the watch is connected to the phone, so it is emitting - POS 05H or NO POS: the grid is three hours old or more, or there is no position yet Everything is computed on the watch from the last known position (sun and moon times, twilight, moon phase). No phone or data connection is needed for the light data. German watch language shows German day and month names. The one setting is the date format: military (FRI 25 SEP) or ISO 8601 (2026-09-25 FRI). Mission timers and alarms: use the watch's own Timer and Alarms. They vibrate; a watch face cannot. The light bar now magnifies the hours around you: the nearest hour and the hours on either side are labeled, with a tick every 10 minutes, while the rest of the day is compressed at the sides between the 00 and 24 marks. After 23 the next hour reads 24, as in 2400. The lens moves along the bar through the day, so where it sits still tells you the time of day, and sunset or first light shows up in detail as it approaches. The status block now shows the next moonrise or moonset next to the moon, and its numbers are zero-padded so the rows no longer shift as values change. Fonts now declare their full cell height, so the last row of each glyph is no longer cut off on the watch, and the small 7 is redrawn. New setting: Date format, military (FRI 25 SEP) or ISO 8601 (2026-09-25 FRI). Layout fixes: the BT and POS warning boxes now center their text, the hour labels no longer touch the ticks, and the ZULU time and the grid are centered. The grid now starts with its grid zone (54S UE 8843 4929), and the moon phase disk shows the lit side correctly while the moon is waning.
