Beskrivelse

This is a data field version of my Swiss Grid widget. It calculates and shows the “Swiss Grid” (Swiss Coordinate System) value for the current position. You can choose the CH1903/LV03 or the newer CH1903+/LV95 coordinate system from the settings page. The calculations are approximate, so the results are effectively the same but displayed in the appropriate format. The data field label shows which system is being used. The data field takes the latitude and longitude from your device's GPS location and converts it to the equivalent Swiss Grid value. This is normally displayed in the standard 5/6 or 7-digit format. If the display is too wide to fit in a small data field you can choose to truncate the calculated grid resolution to show fewer digits. If you are outside the approximate area of Switzerland the data field will display the GPS (latitude and longitude) coordinates of your current position in decimal degrees and the label will be “GPS”. The calculations are derived from the approximate formulas in the document “Formulas and constants for the calculation of the Swiss conformal cylindrical projection and for the transformation between coordinate systems” from the Swiss Federal Office of Topography website at https://swisstopo.ch. The data field was created for my personal use – but I've shared it for anyone who would like to try it. The icon was made by Creatype from flaticon (https://www.flaticon.com/free-icons/switzerland") I've tested the data field on my vívoactive® HR and other devices in the simulator. Please contact me if you have any problems, comments or requests. Include your email address if you would like a reply. You can find the original widget at https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/88fb136a-e930-4a49-bda6-95922444f9e8. Disclaimer Please note that I can accept no responsibility for the correctness of the grid values shown. You should never rely on this data field alone for navigation purposes. To be safe, always understand how to navigate without your Garmin device.
