Beskrivelse

Umbra works out the solar eclipses of 2027 to 2030 for the exact spot where you stand, with no phone and no connection. It gives your local contact times C1 to C4, the length of totality or of the ring phase, how much of the Sun is covered, and how high the Sun stands at every contact. The calculation runs on the watch from NASA's Besselian elements. On the day itself you do not want to look at a phone. Eclipse day mode counts down to the next contact, ticks through the last ten seconds and gives a long buzz when your glasses can come off at second contact and a fast, different buzz when they must go back on. At an annular eclipse it never tells you to remove them. A rehearsal plays C2 and C3 right now so you know what the signals feel like. WHAT IT DOES Local C1, C2, maximum, C3 and C4 to the second, in watch time or any UTC offset. Totality or ring duration, magnitude and coverage. Live picture of the Sun with the Moon in front, oriented as you see it. Advice on where to go: "100 km S gives 4:50 of totality", the first point inside the path and your distance to the edge. Sky chart with the Sun's path during the eclipse. Reminders the day before, an hour before and ten minutes before totality. Glance with the countdown. Lunar eclipses up to 2030 with local times and Moon altitude. Coordinates can be entered by hand to plan a trip. WHAT IT NEEDS GPS for your position, or coordinates entered in the menu. The app must be open during the eclipse for the glasses buzz. Never look at the Sun without certified eclipse glasses, except during totality itself. Times are accurate to a few seconds; near the edge of the path a kilometre makes a big difference.
