Simple digital watch face with a status bar, a date, and a rim you can fill with as much or as little as you like: hour and minute marks, an hour hand, a seconds hand, your activity goal, recovery time, the next sun event and the wind. On watches with a MIP display the seconds hand keeps ticking in low power mode, so the seconds are always there rather than only when you raise your wrist. Always-on AMOLED watches update once a minute, so there the hand appears when the watch wakes. Status bar shows: - battery level; - alarm icon, if any are set; - phone, if connected; - DND, if enabled; - activity icon, if active; - notifications icon, if there are any; - a cat, if you want one. Every icon has a setting of its own, so the bar can be pared down to as much or as little as you want. Switching the status bar off takes all of them with it. Time follows the 12h or 24h setting of the watch, in HH:MM or HHMM, and on a 12h watch an am or pm sits at the end of the status bar. The date can be shown short or long. Hour marks and minute marks switch on and off separately and share one colour, the minute marks slimmer and shorter than the hours. The hour marks come in three sizes: small is short and wide, medium spends that width on length, and large is the longest of the three, at a width between the other two. A medium mark is as slim as a minute mark, leaving the length to tell the two apart. An hour hand can be switched on as well: a solid triangle standing on the inner edge of the rim and pointing out at the hour, moving on through the hour as a watch hand does. Recovery time is counted round the rim in its own colour, one mark an hour from twelve o'clock: five hours reach one o'clock, twelve reach a little past two. Hour marks inside the sweep take that colour too. The minute it is now can be marked the same way, in a colour of its own. The slot keeps whatever size it already has, so it reads as that mark lit rather than something new on the rim, and it shows with the marks switched off as well. Where it meets the recovery sweep the minute takes the slot. The data hand fills a full circle as you reach the daily goal and changes colour once you pass it. Pick what it tracks: - steps; - floors climbed; - active minutes for the week; - wheelchair pushes. Body battery runs as a gauge across the bottom of the face, inside the marks: a grey track from the 8 o'clock mark round to the 4 o'clock one, filled to your reading in a colour of your choosing. A single dot marks the next sun event where an hour hand would point at it: a ring for the coming sunrise, a solid disc for the coming sunset, both half sunk into the rim and amber. In the last hour before the sun goes down the disc turns orange. It reads the times the watch already keeps, on watches new enough to offer them. A triangle on the rim points inward from the direction the wind is blowing from, with north at twelve o'clock. It grows with the wind: a small one for a light wind, a larger one above 20 km/h, larger still above 40. It needs the weather your phone syncs. The marks, the hour hand, the seconds hand, the data hand and the wind triangle can each be given a colour, tuned or disabled, and so can the time and date, from 29 colours chosen to render cleanly on both MIP and AMOLED screens.
