Data field for activity data screens, showing the number of steps done during a timed activity. Optionally, an estimated distance using the average stride length is stored with the activity data too. Results of STEPS & DISTANCE saved with the activity FIT file, and visible in Garmin Connect. NEW: loss of battery power during the activity, and the estimated hourly battery consumption added to the stats page of Garmin Connect.
PLEASE NOTE: the steps-estimated distance is displayed in a separate IQ field of Garmin Connect. It DOES NOT overwrite the native distance value of the activity! At indoor activities, where the native distance is often strongly undercounted by the watch, you can Edit the activity, and copy the IQ distance into the native field. IQ apps are not authorized to modify the native distance.

INSTALLATION:
1. Install the app on your watch through the Garmin IQ store.
2. On the watch, go to Activities, highlight the desired activity, and long-press the Menu button
3. In Activity Settings, enter Data Screens, add a new screen, or select an existing one
4. Select or change the layout (if needed), select and enter the field you want to use
5. Select ConnectIQ Fields » txActivitySteps

SETTINGS:
Settings are available in Garmin Express » IQ Apps (click the triple dot icon near the name of the app), or in the Connect IQ phone app.
• Custom Stride Length - used for calculating the distance. When set to zero, the default stride length for running, or walking, reported by your watch is used. If no stride length available, average for your stature and gender, or a general average is used.
• Adaptive stride length - when disabled, the distance is equal to steps * stride length. Otherwise, a complex algorithm adjusts the immediate stride length using the current cadence and speed.
• Show Step Distance - when enabled, the data field on the screen switches each 5s from the step count (whole number) to the distance value (a number with two decimals). Otherwise, only step count is shown.
• Stride Info - when enabled, Garmin Connect will show not only the step count, and distance, but also a more detailed information about the type of the stride type used (custom, walk, run, stature, fix, adaptive), and also its average value.
