Watchface for outdoor fans. Developed to show all the information I need for my daily adventures.
It shows:
- Battery status in days with a warning for low level
- Do Not Disdurb indicator
- Active alarms indicator
- Indicator if the phone is disconnected (most likely I've left it home again)
- Steps
- RIP a.k.a "Recovery In Progress" i.e. recovery time in hours
- Current heart rate and average heart rate plot for the past 40 min
- Day of the week and date
- Time with disappearing seconds to preserve battery
- Weather: Current condition, temperature, barometric trend, wind speed and weather forecast
- Sunrise and sunset with twilight support
- Aurora Borealis indicator
Notes:
- Heart rate is updated every 3 seconds to avoid constant changes
- Heart rate plot has configurable "sample" size, i.e. how big chunks the 40 minute window is divided
- Day of the week uses Finnish abbreviations by default. Choose your preferred language in the options. You can use system language or override it with some of the common (from northern European point of view) languages. I can add translations to suit your needs.
- Date has formatting options of d.m., mm/dd and dd/mm
- Time is presented in 24 hour "military" format with HH.mm or HH:mm formatting only. I do not intend to support other formats because the design gets messy, but I've added option for the ":" delimiter if it pleases you.
- Temperature is in Celsius only (I do not intend to support Fahrenheit)
- Barometric trend is configurable and you can make it match your storm alerts
- Wind speed is in meters per second only (though morning reports seem to use km/h which is kinda hilarious)
- Weather forecast has a setting how far in the future you want it to be. Default is 1 (or next hour)
- You can opt-in to show twilight start and end times if you prefer twilight over sunrise / sunset. This will not turn you into a teen vampire.
- Aurora borealis indicator is shown on top of sunrise / sunet indicator when a FMI magnetometer station reports medium or high probability of Aurora Borealis. By default it uses your location but your can override the setting and opt-out if you wish to.
- Designed to preserve battery with most of the data updated only when watch is in the "Power mode" or during minute updates. With Instinct 2X you can press "Set" to refresh the view and get HR updated and seconds running. You can change how long seconds will be shown and whether you want the HR updated also.
Újdonságok
v 0.1.3: Moved the Aurora Borealis indicator on top of sunrise / sunset icon. (20261005)
v 0.1.1 & 0.1.2: Tweaked the Aurora Borealis indicators, bigger and more visible. (20261005)
v 0.1.0: Minor version increase due to changed permissions! The watchface is now capable of fetching Aurora Borealis data from Finnish Meteorological Institute. If there is medium or high chance of Aurora Borealis an indicator will be shown on top of the current weather icon. The indicator is shown only after sunset (or during twilight) so it is dependant on your current location. You can turn this feature off if you don't live near any of the stations. (20261005)
v 0.0.27: Trying to fix the issue of all the heavy updates happening at the same time during minute change. Optimized barometer updtes (20261003)
v 0.0.26: Refactored basically whole codebase with Claude Code. Optimized screen updates, fixed some obvious bugs and added tons of AI slop. The result should be faster to load after returning to the watchface from menus. Sunrise and sunset location updates now only once in a minute so there is a small delay after you've updated your location using GPS. Your weather station location is used as a backup. (20261003)
v 0.0.25: Added indicator under the sunrise icon that is shown when twilight times are shown. (20260927)
v 0.0.24: Sunrise / sunset icon now shows the sun state: set, risen or twilight regardles of your preference to show twilight times. During the day it will produce a very slow animation of four images (20260926)
v 0.0.23: Added support for system language and some common languages that you can use to override system language in week day abbreviation translations. (20260926)
v 0.0.22: Added option to show twilight times instead of sunrise and sunset. THIS IS EXPERIMENTAL and due to limitations in Garmin sunrise/sunset calculations may produce inaccurate times in high altitudes. (20260925)
v 0.0.21: When the sun has set and the sky is clear show actual current moon phase instead of the static moon icon. The sunrise / sunset icon also changes to indicate whether the sun has set. This is rather reduntant information at the moment, but is foreshadowin an upcoming twilight option. (20260925)
v 0.0.20: Show "PD" during polar days and "PN" during polar nights accordingly, instead of ambigious "PD / PN". (20260924)
v 0.0.19: Tweaked some of the weather icons.
v 0.0.18: Made the barometric trend configurable so you can match it with your storm alert.
v 0.0.17: Hide weather information if no weather is available (e.g. no BT connection). Added more spacing between the icons.
v 0.0.16: Added icon for the weather forecast for the next hour. If you want the icon represent the forecast further away in the futere there is a setting for it. Reworked the weather and sunrise/sunset section.
v 0.0.15: New weather icons
v 0.0.14: Made the margins smaller and aligned the texts
v 0.0.13: Draw the hear rate plot offscreen to save some battery.
Older version history truncated due to reaching limit of 4000 letters.
