Lumen Crystal is a deliberately minimal analog watch face for AMOLED screens. A pure black dial, slim faceted crystal hands and twelve numerals that stay dark – until a hand points at them. LIGHT FOLLOWS THE HANDS Only the hours the hour and minute hands point to are lit. When a hand is between two hours, both glow – half and half – and the light moves smoothly with the hand. The light comes from the tip of the hand: a soft pool of light spreads under the lit numeral and the numeral casts a shadow away from the hand. CRYSTAL HANDS Dauphine-style hands with two facets that catch the light differently as they turn, a bright edge, a center ridge and a small sparkle. A soft glow lies under each hand and each hand casts a shadow onto the dial. COLORS 6 glow colors: ice blue (default), pure white, mint, amber, ruby and violet. The numerals, the glow and the hands change together. DATE AND DATA FIELD The date sits above the hands (SAT 17 / 17 OCT / 17.10, or off). One optional data field sits below: heart rate (default), altitude, temperature + weather, barometer, sunrise / sunset, steps, calories, distance, floors, Body Battery, stress, battery (percent or estimated days left), notifications, Pulse Ox, respiration, recovery time, intensity minutes, second time zone (UTC-12 to UTC+14), or off. MORE SETTINGS Unlit numerals: off, faint (default) or visible. Numerals lit by: both hands (default), the hour hand only or the minute hand only. Always-On content. Everything can be changed in the Connect IQ app on your phone or directly on the watch (Customize in the watch face menu, English menu). TOUCH On touchscreen watches press and hold the date to open the calendar, or the data field to open the matching Garmin widget. ALWAYS-ON AND BATTERY LIFE In Always-On mode the face switches to a separate low-power screen: outlined crystal hands, the lit hours dimmed and the date (each part can be turned off). About 1% of the pixels are lit, it updates once a minute and does not read sensors in that mode, and the layout shifts a few pixels every minute to protect the display from burn-in. There is no seconds hand; when awake the face is redrawn only when the minute (or the heart rate shown in the field) changes.
