Description
Cadence in zone colors with torque, L/R balance and pedaling share.
DESCRIPTION
Cadence Color Field shows your cadence so you can read it at a glance: the whole background lights up in the color of your current cadence zone. It shares its look with Power Color Field and Speed Color Field, so the fields sit nicely side by side on one data screen.
FEATURES
• Large current cadence with the background in 7 zone colors (white, blue, green, yellow, orange, red, purple). A small buffer at the zone boundaries prevents flickering.
• Adjustable zone limits (default 60 / 70 / 80 / 90 / 100 / 110 rpm).
• Top row: pedaling share (what percentage of the ride you pedaled instead of coasting; standing still without auto pause does not count) and average cadence (in its zone color). Tap the field to switch between the ride average and the current lap average (red pill, coasting excluded).
• Bottom row left: torque in Nm (force per pedal stroke, from power and cadence, 3 s smoothed) – ideal for low-cadence strength work. Requires a power meter.
• Bottom row right: meters per crank revolution – how big your gear is, no electronic shifting needed.
• Pauses: when the timer stops (auto pause or stop), the background turns light gray. The center shows the length of the current pause in red, the top row the total pause time of the ride.
• Without a cadence sensor the field shows "--".
• Adapts automatically to any field size, from 1 to 10 fields per page. Labels are shortened step by step when space is tight (PEDAL → PED → PD).
• English and German, development in m or ft depending on your device settings.
SETUP
1. Install the data field and add it to a data page of your cycling profile: Activity profile › Data screens › select a field › Connect IQ › Cadence Color Field.
2. Optionally open the settings in the Connect IQ app:
– Top right: ride average / lap average (for devices without a touchscreen)
– Zone limits in rpm (each limit must be higher than the previous one)
3. Turn on auto pause in your activity profile to get the pause display.
REQUIREMENTS
• Cadence sensor or power meter with cadence
• For torque: power meter. For L/R balance: dual-sided ANT+ power meter. For development: speed sensor or GPS.
SUPPORTED DEVICES
Edge 520 Plus, 530, 540, 550, 830, 840, 850, 1030, 1030 Plus, 1030 Bontrager, 1040, 1050, Explore 2, Edge MTB.
Nouveautés
VERSION 1.1.0
- L/R balance removed: the field no longer opens its own ANT+ connection to the power meter and only uses the sensors paired with your Edge. The bottom right always shows the development.
- Consistent text color across all Color Fields: white on every colored background, including yellow and orange; black only on white and light gray.
- Pill text no longer gets smaller after a pause of one hour.
VERSION 1.0.2
- Larger pills and more readable labels in wide, shallow data fields. The main value adapts to the available space.
VERSION 1.0.1
• Lap average: in workouts from Garmin Connect, the value now restarts with every workout step.
VERSION 1.0.0 – First release
• Cadence in zone colors, adjustable zone limits, ride or lap average by tapping.
• Pedaling share: how much of the ride you pedaled instead of coasting.
• Torque in Nm and L/R balance (only from your own, verified power meter), otherwise development in meters per crank revolution.
• Pause times when stopped, crash-safe: pauses and pedaling share continue after a restart of the field.
