Description

A breathwork trainer for athletes, built around the physiology rather than around a stopwatch. Eight protocols, each fully guided by vibration so you can practise with your eyes closed and the screen off: - Cyclic hyperventilation with breath retention - CO2 tolerance table - Box breathing, 3 to 8 seconds a phase - Resonance breathing, 4.5 to 7 breaths a minute - Physiological sigh burst - Extended-exhale downregulation - Pre-race arousal control - A custom builder, if none of the above is what you want WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT Your watch already measures the thing these protocols are trying to change. This app uses it during the session, not just afterwards. Live heart rate through every phase. Optionally, the app can end a breath-hold when your heart rate climbs above its lowest point in that hold — the rise that comes with the urge to breathe — instead of holding you to a number you picked before you started. For resonance and box breathing it reads beat-to-beat variability where your watch exposes it, and shows a three-band coherence indicator. Three bands, not a score with three decimal places: a wrist sensor cannot honestly support more than that, and we would rather tell you so. When you finish, it tells you how well you came back down — how far your heart rate fell and how quickly it returned to where it started — in plain words. IT LEARNS WHAT YOU CAN DO Retention targets come from your own last five sessions, not from a table. The target steps up only when your last two holds ended without a heart-rate spike, which means progression follows calm sessions rather than heroic ones. You can override it whenever you want. IN GARMIN CONNECT Every saved session becomes a proper breathwork activity - recorded as meditation with a breathing sub-sport, so your watch and Garmin Connect show a summary that fits rather than a generic one with average speed and distance in it. Duration, heart-rate graph, one lap per round so hold times read straight off the lap table, and graphs of breathing phase, breath rate, variability and coherence. Recording keeps running for up to two minutes after your last breath, so the recovery is on the graph too. Heart-rate data from saved sessions feeds your watch's own Body Battery and stress metrics in exactly the way any recorded activity does. This app cannot read those scores and cannot change them. Anyone who tells you otherwise about any app is guessing. NO PHONE NEEDED Everything runs on the watch: the protocols, the sensors, the history and the progression. No account, no cloud, no companion app. Settings can be changed on the watch or from the Garmin Connect app, whichever you have to hand. WANT TO TRY IT FIRST Vytera Breath Free gives you box breathing, free and unlimited, with the same vibration guidance and the same live heart rate. Search the Connect IQ Store for it. This app adds the other seven protocols, including every one that involves a breath-hold. SAFETY This app is a training tool, not medical advice, and it does not diagnose or treat anything. Never practise breath retention in or near water. Shallow-water blackout gives no warning and happens to strong swimmers. Never practise while driving or operating anything. Sit or lie down — never stand, because a faint while standing is a head injury rather than a moment of dizziness. Speak to a doctor before using breath-hold or hyperventilation protocols if you are pregnant, or if you have a cardiovascular condition, high or low blood pressure, a history of fainting, epilepsy or any seizure disorder, a respiratory condition including asthma or COPD, a history of stroke or aneurysm, or if you are recovering from surgery. Stop immediately if you feel faint, unwell, numb, or in pain at any point.
