Description

Thresh guides you through a field test for your lactate threshold heart rate (LTHR), threshold pace and FTP, and turns the result into training zones that stay put until your next test. It follows Joe Friel's 30-minute solo time trial for running and cycling, with a 20-minute FTP test and a 3 + 12 minute critical speed test as alternatives. During the test you see the time left, your heart rate, pace or power, when the heart rate starts to count, and a pacing coach that compares you with your last test. Afterwards Thresh checks the test itself: a start that was too hard, a fade, gaps in the heart rate, and a wrist sensor that followed your cadence instead of your heart. A test that does not hold up is marked as not valid instead of quietly moving your zones. WHAT IT DOES - Guided tests: run 30 min, treadmill 30 min, bike 30 min, bike 20 min FTP, run 3 + 12 min critical speed - Warm-up, a lap at minute 10 when the heart rate starts to count, recovery between efforts, cool-down - LTHR, threshold pace, FTP, critical speed and D', plus VDOT from the 30-minute run - Quality check with a score: pacing, fade, heart rate rise, heart rate coverage and cadence lock - Heart rate zones for running and cycling, pace zones and power zones from the source percentages - Compares the zones on your watch with your measured LTHR, so you know what to enter in Garmin Connect - Trend over your tests and a retest reminder every 4 to 6 weeks, also in the glance - Saves the test to Garmin Connect as a run or ride with laps and the results as extra fields - Five languages, pace per km or per mile WHAT IT NEEDS - A watch with heart rate; GPS for outdoor running; a power meter for FTP - Connect IQ apps cannot change the zones in your watch: Thresh shows them, you enter them in Garmin Connect - A threshold test is a hard effort; Thresh is a training tool, not a medical device
