The time written in smoke, over a bed of burning charcoal. The four digits of the clock are made of smoke: solid enough to read at a glance, soft at their edges, with thin wisps rising off the top of every stroke and curling as they climb. Between the hours and the minutes, instead of a colon, two glowing embers. The clock stays centred on those embers whatever the time. Time follows the watch's own 12/24-hour setting. Behind it, the whole dial is one rendered scene. A bed of charcoal lines the bottom of the face, lit by the fire burning in the gaps between the lumps and through a few glowing cracks. A small flame rises from the middle of it, three columns of smoke climb the dial and spread into curls under the glass, with sparks scattered through the dark. Nothing on the face moves. The smoke thins out wherever something is printed, so every reading stays clear. The edge of the dial is the step goal, drawn as a fuse. It runs from the coals at the lower left, over the top, to the coals at the lower right, and burns further along as the day's steps come in, deep red at the start and hotter towards the tip, with a spark where it is burning. The weekday and date sit at the top, with today's steps on the left beneath them and today's calories on the right. Under the clock is one row with heart rate, body battery, the current temperature and today's distance, each with its own icon in the fire's colour. The watch battery sits down among the coals, in a dark hollow burnt out for it, and turns red at 20% and below. Every word and number carries a soft black shadow so it stays crisp over the smoke. Always-on is a separate frame on black: the smoke digits and the embers, the date and the burning fuse, each exactly where it sits when the watch is awake, so nothing jumps when you raise your wrist. The digits are dimmed to stay within the display brightness limit, so the frame stays lit instead of blanking. SETTINGS Fire colour: Ember, Gas Blue, Copper Green or Gold. Changes the coals, the flame, the fuse, the embers and the icons together; the smoke stays grey in every one. Show steps and calories: on or off. Shows or hides the line under the date. On by default. Temperature units: follow the watch, Celsius or Fahrenheit. Weather data always arrives in Celsius whatever the watch is set to, so this one cannot be derived.
