BigData – one big, configurable data field for hiking with the Instinct 2X. Combines the other Outdoor Fan data fields into a single big field. Ten configurable values in one field, chosen by you, with icons. Use your Connect IQ app to change the fields. IMPORTANT: Use the "2 Fields" data screen and put BigData in the large field. In any other slot the field only shows "2 Fields" as a reminder. The "eye" is meant to be left for HR or other system field value of your choosing. LAYOUT - Top block: three rows (the top two show time values only) - Middle: two columns of three values - Bottom: one wide row The middle row of each column and the second top row use a large font. FIELD TYPES - Timer, Distance, Distance with unit, Pace, Speed and Speed with unit - Time of day - Dawn, Sunrise, Sunset, Dusk - Altitude (GPS) - Altitude at start (reference), Altitude change from start - Altitude min, Altitude max - Combined: Altitude at start / change, Altitude min / max - Empty (hides the slot) Defaults: Dusk, Time of day and Sunset at the top; Timer, Pace, Speed, Altitude at start / change, Altitude and Altitude min / max in the middle; Distance with unit at the bottom. SUN TIMES Calculated on the watch for your current location; no phone or internet connection needed. Dawn and dusk are civil twilight (sun 6° below the horizon). Times are shown in 24 h format. "PD" means polar day, or a white night with no dusk; "PN" means polar night. ALTITUDE Altitude is taken from GPS only, so it isn't affected by barometer calibration (weather changes, elevator rides). - GPS altitude can be far off for the first minutes after a fix, even when the watch reports a good signal. The starting altitude (reference) is therefore taken only after the GPS altitude has stayed within 5 m for 60 seconds. - Tip: open the activity a minute or two before you start. The reference settles while you get ready, and pressing start fixes it at your starting point. - Need a new reference along the way? Stop the timer, wait for the menu, choose Lap and resume. The current altitude becomes the new reference as soon as it has been steady for 10 seconds. - Min and max follow the reference and are updated only while the timer runs. Short GPS jumps are ignored. - Values show "--" until the reference is set. SETTINGS (Connect IQ app or Garmin Express) - Field type for each of the ten slots - Time delimiter: 07.21 or 07:21 - Background: same as the data screen, black, white, or opposite of the data screen (matches the heart rate eye) Units (metric or statute) follow your watch settings. PRIVACY Location is required to update the sun times and altitude. Rough estimate of your location is kept in memory and updated once per hour to re-calculate the the sun times only when needed. The location is not stored after program ends and it will not leave the watch.
