A high accuracy GPS source for the TreeMapper phone app. Measuring a tree with your phone alone gives you the phone's position. This app gives you the watch's position instead, from a multi band GNSS receiver, and sends it straight to TreeMapper over Bluetooth. HOW IT WORKS 1. Open TreeMapper on your phone. 2. Open TreeMapper GPS on your watch and leave it running. 3. At each tree, press START. The fix goes to your phone. 4. The watch returns to acquiring, ready for the next tree. The receiver starts the moment you open the app and stays warm for as long as it is open. The first fix takes a while, as all GNSS fixes do. Every fix after that answers in milliseconds. WHAT YOU SEE A four step quality ring, not a smooth gauge. The receiver reports quality in four discrete steps, so that is what the watch shows. No invented precision. The watch tells you when the fix is good enough, and warns you when it is not. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO It stores nothing. One fix at a time, held in memory only until your phone confirms it arrived. No tree count, no session history, no files on the watch. REQUIREMENTS - The TreeMapper app, installed and open on your paired phone. - Bluetooth on. - Keep this app open while you map. Garmin only allows the GPS receiver to run while a device app is in the foreground, so the watch cannot do this in the background. PERMISSIONS - Positioning, to read the GNSS receiver. - Communications, for the Bluetooth link to your phone. Nothing else is requested, and nothing leaves the watch except the fix you send.
