The "scientific 7-minute workout" on your wrist: the 12-exercise high-intensity circuit by Klika & Jordan (ACSM's Health & Fitness Journal, 2013). 30 seconds per exercise and 10 seconds of rest, using your body weight, a wall and a chair. The watch times every step, counts your reps and saves the workout to Garmin Connect. THE CIRCUIT Jumping jacks, wall sit, push-ups, crunches, step-ups, squats, triceps dips, plank, high knees, lunges, push-up and rotation, side plank. DURING THE WORKOUT • Each exercise with its name, a picture and a big countdown; during rests, the next exercise and a form tip. • Cues so you don't have to look: buzzes and tones to start and to rest, 3-2-1 beeps, a buzz to switch sides in the side plank and an optional halfway buzz. • 1 to 5 rounds, with a longer rest between rounds. • Leave out exercises (an injury, no chair nearby), or choose low impact: step jacks and marching instead of jumps. • Heart rate with zones, calories, and a progress ring with one segment per exercise. • Exercise and rest times, rounds and your weekly goal can be changed on the watch or in the Connect IQ app. REPS COUNTED FROM YOUR WRIST Jumping jacks, push-ups, crunches, squats, triceps dips, high knees and lunges. The Rep counter test in the menu shows the live count before you start. Wall sit, plank and side plank are timed holds. AFTER THE WORKOUT • Summary: time, exercises, rounds, reps per exercise, calories and heart rate. • Saved to Garmin Connect as a HIIT activity (cardio on older watches): every exercise and rest is a lap, with your reps. • Weekly goal, streak, history of the last 30 workouts and personal records. • Glance with this week's workouts and your streak. • How to: all 12 exercises with pictures and form tips. GOOD TO KNOW • Clear, full movements count best; slow or partial reps can be missed. • High-intensity exercise isn't for everyone: check with your doctor if you're unsure.
