KING OF SPEED is an arcade highway game for your wrist: a night drive at ever-rising speed through three lanes of traffic, seen from just behind and above your car. HOW IT PLAYS The car accelerates on its own, from 170 km/h at the start to well over 300 as the run goes on. Your only job is to change lanes. Traffic in the left lane is the fastest, the right lane the slowest, and the further you get, the faster you go, the more cars there are and the more often two of them block lanes side by side. There is always a way through. A crash throws the car into a spin, brakes it hard and costs one of three shields. The car then pulls back up through the gears. Drive 40 seconds without a crash and one shield is repaired. A crash with no shield left ends the run. CONTROLS Two directions play the whole game. Either button on the left moves one lane left, either button on the right moves one lane right. Presses stack, so two quick presses cross two lanes. Hold UP or swipe up or down to pause. The game also pauses by itself if you leave it. On touch screens, tap the left or right half of the screen to steer. SCORING Distance scores, and faster driving scores more. Every second without a crash raises the bonus multiplier from x1.0 towards x5.0, and a crash drops it back to x1.0. Passing a car with only a hand's width to spare is a near miss, and near misses in quick succession chain from 250 up to 2000 points. Your best score, longest distance, top speed, top bonus and near misses are kept. THE LOOK A highway at night: lit bands under the street lamps, dashed lane lines rushing past, a concrete median with cyan reflectors on one side and a steel guardrail on the other, pine trees, neon boards and overhead gantries, and a city skyline glowing on the horizon. Your silver sports car shows a red light bar and flickering exhausts, leans into lane changes and smokes when damaged. Eight kinds of traffic share the road, from hatchbacks to box trucks, each with tail lights that flare when it brakes. SETTINGS Vibration: on or off. On by default. Sound: on or off. Off by default.
