To review without the phone: hold UP on a Kavik page - Settings - Demo data: On. This fills the pages, map pins and a sample track with placeholder values. New: Map page: from HOME press UP (compass), then DOWN (map). UP/DOWN zoom, START pans, tap a pin for distance and direction, hold UP for the Map menu. The map uses Garmin's own MapView cartography. Kavik downloads no map tiles. No new permissions.

1.1.168: What's New Optimizations & UI improvements Positioning Used only while following hike-to-a-point guidance: the watch computes bearing and distance to your destination with its own GPS so guidance continues when the paired phone is unreachable. GPS is off at all other times. Position data is processed on the watch and shared only with the user's own Kavik phone app — never with third parties. Communications Exchanges data with the companion Kavik phone app through Garmin Connect: dropping markers, starting and stopping track recording, and receiving hunting hours, altitude and hike guidance state. Sensor Reads the watch's barometric altimeter and compass to show altitude and heading on the wrist.
