Familiar is a virtual pet for your Instinct that lives on your real Garmin data. Walk to hatch a mysterious egg, then raise what comes out of it. It grows from hatchling to youngster to one of three adult forms, depending on how you live. Train and it becomes an Athlete. Pamper it and it grows Pampered. Neglect it and it turns Wild. Four species: black cat, moth, raven and jellyfish. Each one reacts to your data in its own way. The cat sleeps when you sleep. The moth is drawn to the lamp at night. The raven finds a trinket for its nest every 1,000 steps. The jellyfish glows with your Body Battery. The art is drawn for the Instinct's black-and-white screen. Your pet lives in a dark room lit by a single swaying lamp, and the round window shows your real weather: rain, snow, fog, storms and the moon. Day and night follow your local sunrise and sunset. HOW TO PLAY • Walk 3,000 steps to hatch your egg. • UP: quick action. It does whatever your pet needs most right now. • SELECT: action menu. Feed, Treat, Pet, Play, Bath, Sleep, Heal, Breathe. • DOWN: status card. Shows food, mood, energy, cleanliness and fitness, plus your Garmin data. • Hold UP: settings. Change the name, alerts, quiet hours and Classic mode, open the Album or start a new pet. • BACK: exit. Time keeps passing while the app is closed, so check in a few times a day. YOUR DATA, YOUR PET • Steps hatch eggs and earn treats. • Intensity minutes build fitness and lead to the Athlete form. • Body Battery sets your pet's energy. • High stress makes it restless. Breathe together for one minute to calm you both down. • Do Not Disturb puts it to sleep with you, and its needs pause overnight. • Weather, sunrise, sunset and solar charging change the scene. CARE • Feed it, clean it and play with it a few times a day. A sick pet needs medicine. • Up to 3 gentle reminders a day, never during your quiet hours. You can change this in settings. • If you neglect it for 3 days it runs away and leaves you a note. Walk 5,000 steps to bring it back. In Classic mode it can die instead. • Every adult you raise is saved in your Album. Once it is grown, start a new egg of another species. MINIGAMES • Left or Right: guess where your pet will look. • Breathe: one guided minute of breathing. • Catch: tilt your wrist to catch falling food (Instinct 3 Solar and Instinct E only). Familiar collects no personal data. Everything is stored on your watch.
