Popis

Shift Advisor is a data field for Garmin Edge that tells you when to shift. It compares your cadence with a target range that fits the current situation. If you are outside that range for 2 seconds, an arrow appears. It disappears as soon as you shift. What it takes into account - Gradient: on climbs the target cadence is higher than on the flat. If the road gets steeper, the down arrow comes earlier. - Power and FTP: above threshold the app asks you to spin faster to spare your legs. - Heart rate zones, if a strap is connected: in zone 5 the target drops to take load off your heart. - The course ahead: when you navigate, the app checks the elevation of the next course point. Before a climb the down arrow comes early, while there is still little load on the chain. That is also where it prefers a chainring shift. Which gear With ANT+ Shifting, for example SRAM AXS, the app detects your drivetrain: 1x or 2x, number of cogs and current gear. It learns the ratio of every gear while you ride, so it does not need the wheel size. It works out which gear brings your cadence back into range and shows the first step: rear cassette or chainring. It does not suggest cross-chained gears. If there is no easier or harder gear left, it shows "=". Shimano Di2 does not pass gear data to Connect IQ apps. Without gear data, Shift Advisor only shows the direction, based on cadence. Adapts to you While you ride, the app learns which cadence you choose on your own. It keeps separate values for terrain (descent, flat, rolling, climb), effort and activity profile, so if each bike has its own profile, it learns per bike. After about half an hour in a situation, your own values count more than the starting ranges. Training mode, optional: over the weeks the down arrow comes slightly earlier, at most 6 rpm above your habit. This only happens if you follow the arrows. If you often ignore them, the app takes the offset back. When you are tired, arrows come later. The app counts heart rate zone 4 or 5, rides longer than 2.5 hours and a rising heart rate at the same power as signs of fatigue. Quiet when it should be No down arrow while standing on the pedals or on short ramps. No arrow while coasting or stopped. On indoor and virtual rides the app is off. A tone is available. The symbols - Chevron up (ultramarine): shift up to a harder gear - Chevron down (pink-red): shift down to an easier gear - Double chevron: shift on the chainring (2x only) - Green "=": your gear is right - Turquoise sailboat: you are coasting - Coffee cup: you are stopped - Ant with a purple plus: cadence or speed is still missing Ride analysis (public version): optionally, the data field writes its decisions as extra columns into the activity file on the device. Off by default, nothing is sent anywhere. Settings in the Connect IQ app: starting cadence ranges, learning, training mode, ride analysis, reset learned data, climb threshold, FTP, delay, heart rate, look-ahead with lead time, tone, avoid cross-chaining.

Co je nového

Learns your shift points: the cadence at which you shift down and up on your own, per terrain, now sets the target range. Earlier arrows when your cadence is rising or the road gets steeper. Fewer and steadier arrows: a 3 s hold, a minimum display time, hysteresis, median cadence, no arrows while coasting or right after starting.
