Popis
Remember your race plan while you ride. Cycling Race Cues brings custom distance-based cycling reminders to your Garmin Edge: a large countdown, clear instructions, and a preview of your upcoming cues.
Plan reminders to eat a gel, drink, refill bottles, move up before a climb, or prepare for a descent. Enter each cue at a distance from the start of your activity, then follow your instructions as the kilometres tick by.
FEATURES
- Up to 20 custom distance-based cycling cues, with messages up to 48 characters.
- A large NEXT IN countdown and a highlighted instruction when you reach the cue.
- Larger instructions and up to three upcoming cues, with layouts tailored to each supported Edge.
- Optional alerts at the cue, or 250 m, 500 m, 1 km, or 2 km beforehand, only for rides started on your race date (Edge local time).
- High-contrast red alert screens with large white text and a thick white border.
- Audible reminders when device alert sounds are enabled, subject to firmware support.
- The final cue stays visible with a COMPLETED status after all cues are passed.
- Light and dark data-page themes, plus ride distance and elapsed time.
- Offline operation after your settings have synced to the Edge.
SETUP
1. Open Cycling Race Cues settings in the Connect IQ app on your phone.
2. Enter a distance in kilometres and a short message for each course cue. For example: 25.0 and EAT A GEL. Leave unused cue pairs empty.
3. Set Race date and choose Alert before (or keep No alert), save your settings, and sync your Edge.
4. Add the data field as a full-screen page in your cycling activity profile.
5. For popups, enable Connect IQ Alerts in that profile's Alerts and Prompts settings. Enable device alert sounds if you want audible reminders.
DISTANCE AND ALERTS
Cues use recorded activity distance from the ride start, not route matching. Start recording at your planned start point; a recorded warm-up or detour changes where your cues occur. This version uses kilometres.
New installs default to No alert. Alerts require a race date matching the recorded ride's local start date. A race-day ride continuing after midnight remains eligible; other-day rides stay silent, with cues retained for preview. Every recording started on that date is eligible, including warm-up rides. The countdown remains visible with alerts off. Device sound settings and firmware affect audible output. Set the race date to today for a short test, then restore the actual race date.
Useful for road racing, gran fondos, sportives, and planned training rides. Preview images illustrate sample cues in a device frame. Feedback from cyclists is welcome.
Compatible devices: Edge 530, 540, 550, 830, 840, 850, 1030, 1030 Bontrager, 1030 Plus, 1040, 1050, Explore 2, and MTB, plus corresponding Solar variants. Use a full-screen data page. Supported models can show native popups over other data pages when Connect IQ Alerts is enabled. Sounds remain subject to firmware and device settings. Edge 520, 520 Plus, 820, 1000, Explore, 130 and 130 Plus are not supported by this version.
No account, subscription, or phone connection is needed during the ride. Cues are configured through Garmin's native app settings.
Co je nového
- An unset race date now starts with today's local date when you first open the data field on your Edge.
- Existing saved race dates stay unchanged, including after restarting or crossing midnight.
- For a new setup, open the data field once, then sync before checking the phone date picker.
