Opis
One steep line cut across the dial, with day on one side and night on the other - drawn as an old highway seen from above, or as the Earth from space.
The hour stands in the middle of the day, the minute in the middle of the night. Both are large, tall and condensed, and every digit is turned to stand parallel to the line, so the time reads across the cut as one number broken by it.
On the road, the line is the faded yellow centre line of an old two-lane highway. The day lane is sun-bleached asphalt with its cracks, sealed seams and patched repairs; the night lane is the same road under the moon. Near the edge of the dial each lane ends in a white edge line, a strip of gravel shoulder and a little desert sand and sagebrush. The whole picture is toned warm, like an old postcard.
On the Earth, the globe fills the dial and the line is where day turns to night: Europe and Africa in the sun, with deserts, forests, seas and clouds, and India and Asia in the dark under their city lights, with the blue of the atmosphere at the edge. No line is drawn; the terminator is the line.
Along the line, the day and the night face each other. Sunrise sits on the day side and sunset on the night side, taken from the location of your last weather update. Lower down, today's steps sit on the day side and the distance they covered on the night side. Between them the seconds count up the line: one mark a second on the day side for the first half of the minute, then on the night side for the second, every fifth mark a little longer.
The corners carry the rest, each reading with its own small icon and set against the curve of the dial. On the night side: heart rate, current temperature and battery. On the day side: calories burned, elevation and body battery. The weekday and date sit level at the bottom. Every reading is lifted off the background by a soft shadow.
Always-on is a separate frame on true black: the hour, the minute and the date in soft grey, with the road's centre line as a dim stroke, and nothing else, so it stays lit instead of blanking after a few seconds.
SETTINGS
Background: road or Earth.
Accent colour: ivory, mustard, orange or duck egg. Colours the minute, the night-side readings and the seconds.
Temperature units: Celsius, Fahrenheit, or follow the watch. Celsius by default.
Distance units: metric (kilometres and metres) or imperial (miles and feet). Metric by default. Covers distance and elevation.
Wrist: left or right. Left by default. The line leans so the time reads without turning your arm; on the right wrist the face is turned top to bottom so it leans the other way, with the hour still on the left and the minute on the right.
The hour is shown on a 12-hour clock.
