Whirr is a ride app for cycling clubs: club rides, RSVPs, ride chat, photos and club-only segments. This data field sends your Edge rides to Whirr through your phone, so they appear in your club without exporting files. What you need: - A Whirr account (Whirr app for iPhone). - The Garmin Connect app on your phone, paired with your Edge. - This field added to a data screen in your ride profile. Setup: 1. In the Whirr app, open Settings, then Devices, then Garmin, and tap "Get pairing code". 2. In Garmin Connect, open this field's settings: paste the code and turn on "Send my rides to Whirr". 3. On your Edge, add the Whirr field to a data screen of your ride profile. On the field: a dot and a word show its state: off, pair in app, connected, sent, or no phone (rides are kept on the Edge and sent once the phone is back). What it sends: nothing until you turn on "Send my rides to Whirr". It is off by default. When on, it sends your ride's GPS track and your Edge's ride totals (distance, time, climbing, speed, and heart rate and power if you use those sensors) to Whirr through Garmin Connect. Your data goes to Whirr, not to Garmin. Turning it off deletes any track not yet sent. Now works on Edge 530, 830, 1030, 1030 Plus and 1030 Bontrager. These Edges send your ride every 5 minutes. Your heart rate, power and cadence now come through for the whole ride, not just the averages, so Whirr shows them as charts and works out your normalized power.
