RacePace is a free data field for runners chasing a goal time. Set your race distance and target finish time, and see live, on one screen, whether you're ahead of or behind goal pace and what time you're on track to finish. Built for 5K, 10K, half marathon, marathon or any custom distance up to 200 km or miles. Going for a sub-4 marathon, a sub-2 half, a Boston qualifier or a new PB? RacePace does the pace maths so you don't have to mid-race. It also works for trail runs, ultras, walking and race walking: any activity with a distance and a goal time. WHAT IT SHOWS • Current Pace: your real-time pace, smoothed to reduce GPS jumps • Average Pace: your average across the whole run so far • Km/Mi Split Pace: live pace for the km or mile you're currently in • Target Pace: the pace per km or mile you need to hit your goal • Ahead/Behind: how far ahead of or behind target pace you are, live • Finish +/-: how far ahead of or behind your goal time you're projected to finish • Projected Finish: your estimated finish time at your current effort • Heart Rate: your current heart rate on a background in your HR zone colour • Average Heart Rate: your average for the whole run, also zone-coloured Every field can be turned on or off, and the rest resize to fill the screen. Out of the box you get Current Pace, Average Pace, Ahead/Behind and Projected Finish. RACE PROGRESS RING A ring around the edge of the screen fills as you cover your race distance, with a dot showing where goal pace would have you right now. Arc past the dot: you're ahead. Arc short of it: you're behind. Green means you're on track to beat your goal time, red means you're not. EASY TO READ AT A GLANCE Green and red show whether you're ahead or behind, and small up and down arrows show the same thing, so it works in bright sun and for colour-blind runners. Optionally, show Ahead/Behind in a filled green or red box. PACE ALERTS (OPTIONAL) Turn on Pace Alerts and RacePace vibrates when you've been behind goal pace for 15, 30 or 60 seconds, and again when you're back on pace. Alerts repeat every 60 seconds while you're behind and stop after 5 minutes, so they nudge rather than nag. EASY SETUP, NO PHONE NEEDED Set race distance (5K, 10K, Half Marathon, Marathon or custom), goal finish time, units (km or miles) and Pace Alerts on or off, right on your watch. Display options, pace smoothing, background colour and alert timing can be set from Garmin Connect Mobile or Garmin Express. HOW TO ADD IT RacePace is a data field, not a watch face or app. Add it to a data screen on your Run activity: start a Run, hold MENU on a data screen, choose Edit Layout, pick the 1-field layout, then select RacePace from Connect IQ Fields. To configure it, open Run, then Settings, then Connect IQ Fields, then RacePace, and press MENU. The progress ring, arrows and coloured box need the 1-field layout, and aren't available on watches with less memory: vivoactive 4/4S, Forerunner 245, fenix 6/6S and Enduro. FREE AND OPEN SOURCE RacePace is free, with no ads or subscriptions. Source code, full setup guide and feature requests: https://github.com/mrvautin/racepace
