EnduroMetrics – Ergo Data Field for Garmin Physiology-Driven. Science-Centered. EnduroMetrics – Ergo is a custom Data Field for Garmin devices, designed specifically to monitor endurance training based on physiological thresholds and metabolic transition points. When simplicity becomes the most interesting thing... A data field designed to be clean, minimal, and purposeful, providing only the essential indicators for effective and focused training, especially tailored for advanced athletes. It can be added to any screen layout, from 1 to 7 fields, without any issues. This allows you to maximize the information displayed during your activity. Since the field uses only one layout slot, you can easily combine it with other Garmin metrics such as: timer, distance, pace, speed, slope, lap time, lap pace, or any additional data you find useful. It is purpose-built to track effort in real time, grounded in individual lactate response and heart rate at lab-measured or field-tested thresholds — not estimates like FTP or training pace, which are performance proxies, not physiological markers. Unlike traditional metrics, this field does not rely on FTP, %HRmax, or pace, which fail to reflect true metabolic intensity. Instead, it is built on laboratory or validated field data capturing lactate (mmol/L) and HR response at precise threshold points: LT1 – HR at Aerobic Threshold (2.0 mmol/L) LTS – HR at Lactate Turning Point (3.0 mmol/L) — Sweet Spot LT2 – HR at Anaerobic Threshold (4.0 mmol/L / OBLA) VO₂max HR – Heart Rate at VO₂max LTHR – Heart Rate at Lactate Threshold from 30-min field test at race pace Zonal System – 3 Zones + Sweet Spot + TURBO!TEMPO® This system is based on true metabolic landmarks, not % of FTP or HRmax: Zone Threshold Limit Training Role Zone 1 – Green HR below LT1 (2.0 mmol/L) Aerobic base building, active recovery Zone 2 – Yellow Between LT1 and LT2 "No man’s land" – limited adaptive stimulus Zone 3 – Red Between LT2 and VO₂max VO₂max, glycolytic capacity, lactate tolerance Sweet Spot Around LTS ±2% (≈3.0 mmol/L) Maximum adaptation with controlled fatigue TURBO!TEMPO® Between LT2 and LTHR Precision tempo for LT2 development (e.g., 5K pace) Why Use LTS (3.0 mmol/L) as the True Sweet Spot? LTS is the most physiologically relevant target for endurance adaptation: Represents the metabolic turning point where glycolysis accelerates Offers maximal training effect without entering high fatigue zones (LT2) Avoids artificial constructs like "% of FTP" Based on measured physiology, not commercial algorithms or estimates Validated by Norwegian training models and recent lactate research Supported Scientific Models This tool integrates seamlessly with major, evidence-based endurance training frameworks: Polarized Training Pyramidal Training Balanced intensity distribution Sweet Spot Training Threshold Training Norwegian Training Frameworks This Tool Is For: Coaches & athletes implementing lactate-based training models Users with access to ergometric data or who perform validated 30-min field tests Endurance trainers seeking precise effort management for performance and health Real-Time Functionality The field provides immediate, color-coded visual feedback: Green: Below LT1 – aerobic zone Yellow: Between LT1 and LT2 – transitional zone (limited value) Red: Above LT2 – VO₂max / lactate work Blue Band: Around LTS ±2% — Sweet Spot Turbo!Tempo Band: Between LT2 and LTHR — high-precision tempo work * Website, EnduroMetrics Endurance Training for Athletes: https://endurometrics.com * Free, Endurance Training Platform for Athletes https://app.endurometrics.com * More Info , Project EnduroMetrics-Ergo: https://endurometrics.com/endurometrics-ergo/ * What is Turbo!Tempo® Zone : https://endurometrics.com/shop/endurance-performance-metrics-training-methods/endurometrics-turbotempo/
