Aurora Finland - see at a glance whether there's a chance of northern lights where you are. The glance shows the magnetometer station nearest to you, its R-index and the probability of auroras as the Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI) words it: Low, Medium or High. Open the glance for more: - Nearest station: R-index, the station's lower and higher limits and the probability. - Map: all stations in Finland with their level. Press GPS to step through the stations. - List: all 11 stations (including Tartu, Estonia) with R-index and limits. The R-index shows magnetic activity over the last 10 minutes. It tells you what is happening now; it is not a forecast. Data is updated every 15 minutes in the background, and when you open the app (press GPS on the first screen to refresh). Settings: choose a fixed station instead of the nearest one. Requires a phone connection (Garmin Connect) for the data. Permissions: location (to find the nearest station), background and communications (to fetch the data). Privacy: your location is used only on the watch to pick the nearest station. It is never stored or sent anywhere. The app downloads the same public data file for every user and sends no location or personal data with the request. Data: Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI), R-index, licensed under CC BY 4.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/). Values are processed for display. This app is not affiliated with or endorsed by FMI.
