Opis
The field shows two numbers: how far ahead of your plan you are or behind it, and how long to the next checkpoint. Large, readable on the move, nothing else on the screen.
The plan is made at https://pacer.karolev.org/ from the course GPX. It works out the gradient of every section instead of an average pace — climbing and flat are not run the same way.
WHAT YOU SEE WHILE RUNNING
• Against the plan — the largest number. Green when you are ahead; red with a minus when you are behind: "-0:45:00" means 45 minutes down. Always with hours — on an ultra, 12 minutes and 12 hours are equally possible.
• To the next checkpoint — its name in the white rule, the time below it. Where it has a cut-off, this is the time left to make it, and it turns red once your pace says you will miss it — while something can still be done. After the last checkpoint — "to the finish".
• At the bottom — the field's version and the plan's number, so you know which plan the watch carries.
ALERTS
A buzz and a screen when a cut-off gets close (15 and then 5 minutes to spare) and 500 m before a checkpoint. Each can be switched off in the field's settings in Garmin Connect.
BACKYARD
The lap number, the time to the bell and how far ahead or behind you are against this lap's target — the targets come from your Backyard plan on the site. Once the lap is done the field shows the rest until the bell and the next lap's target.
CYCLING
For MTB and road the plan is power-based. Ahead/behind and checkpoints work as for running; at the top is the target power for the section beside your 3-second average — or target and current speed without a power meter.
GETTING STARTED
1. At https://pacer.karolev.org/ pick a race from the catalogue (with its checkpoints and cut-offs) or upload your own GPX.
2. Set a target time. The site works out a pace for every kilometre and when you pass each checkpoint.
3. Start an activity with the field — it shows a code, e.g. K7M-3QX. Enter it on the site, once.
From then on the watch fetches the plan by itself. Change something on the site and the new plan reaches the watch at the next activity start. While you run, the field does not look for a network — it carries the plan and spends no battery on it.
MORE ON THE SITE
• A catalogue of Bulgarian mountain races — courses, checkpoints, cut-offs.
• Share your plan with a friend: they enter the code from their watch and run to your plan, no account needed.
• A printout styled as a race bib — profile, checkpoints and a strip of times for your wrist.
• After the race, upload the recording and see where you were ahead or behind, where you walked, and what to change next time.

What's new in version 4.58
• The time to the checkpoint is always by the plan. Fall behind and it turns red with a minus.
• A checkpoint with a cut-off gets its own row, “cut-off 3:13:20”: the time left to make it. It turns red when, at this pace, you will not.
• Every alert has its own sound and buzz: food — 2 short, water — 3 short, checkpoint ahead — rising, cut-off — long and low. You can tell which it is from another screen.
What's new in version 4.57
• Headlamp: half an hour before dark the watch sounds and shows “HEADLAMP”, and a small icon stays beside the number until dawn. Worked out from the real time, not the plan — no phone needed.
• Weather: sun, rain or wind for the hour you are out there, from the forecast for the start. Refreshed at every sync.
• Long checkpoint names are shown in full — in parts that change every 3 seconds.
• Fix: Backyard, cycling and food and water reminders now really reach the watch.
• New models: fēnix E, Venu 2 / 2 Plus / 2S / 3S / 4, vívoactive 5 / 6, MARQ (Gen 2), D2 Mach 1 / 2 / 2 Pro, Descent Mk3 and G2.
• The icons and the sound can be switched off in the field's settings in Garmin Connect.
What's new in version 4.56
• Food and water: in your plan on the site you set how often to eat and drink — the watch buzzes and says “EAT” or “DRINK”. It can be switched off in the field's settings in Garmin Connect. • Backyard: the lap is counted by the bell, not by the timer — pausing during the rest no longer throws the count off.
What's new in version 4.55
• Backyard: the lap number, the time to the bell and how far ahead or behind you are against this lap's target. After the lap the field shows the rest until the bell and the next lap's target. • Cycling: the power plan from the site. At the top is the target power for the section and your 3-second average power. Without a power meter the field shows target and current speed. • Alerts: a buzz and a screen when a cut-off gets close (15 and 5 minutes to spare) and 500 m before a checkpoint. • Each alert can be switched off in the field's settings in Garmin Connect.
What's new in version 4.54
• Less battery when you are not running: a paired watch checks for plan changes every 6 hours instead of every hour. • The plan still arrives on time: at the start of an activity the field fetches it straight away when the phone is nearby.
What's new in version 4.53
• Optimised background processes: the field now uses less battery and pairing runs more smoothly.
What's new in version 4.52
• The pairing code now shows the website under it: pacer.karolev.org. Enter the code there to send your race plan to the watch. • New watch: Instinct 3 AMOLED 45 mm.
What's new in version 4.51
• Watch set to English (or any language other than Bulgarian): the race name and the checkpoint names now arrive in Latin letters — "Vitosha 100", not "Витоша 100". • Watch set to Bulgarian: everything stays as before. • After the update the watch downloads the plan once more, with the names in its own language.
What's new in version 4.50
• The first public version in the Connect IQ store. If you used the beta: this is a separate app — install it and pair the watch once more with the code on the screen. Your plans live on the site and are not lost. • Smoother while running: the field does not look for a network during an activity — the plan is fetched once at the start, then the watch stays quiet until the finish. Less lag and less battery. • Faster when paging through screens: the field no longer re-reads the plan when nothing has changed. • A friend can run to your plan on their own watch — share the plan at pacer.karolev.org and they enter the code from their watch, no account needed.
