SETTINGS ON THE WATCH Hold UP, pick Watch Face, select Reefside, press START, then Customize. The menu is drawn in the style of the face: your Reef log, the Fish gallery, a short How it works guide, the water with a live preview, the three pills under the reef, the moving reef and the always-on brightness. The same settings are in Garmin Connect if you prefer the phone. A LIVING REEF A brass porthole looks onto a coral reef. When you raise your wrist, the fish swim back and forth, their tails beat, the seaweed sways and bubbles rise. You can switch the movement off in the menu. YOUR STEPS GROW THE REEF Each day you reach the step goal set on your watch is a goal day. The corals grow with your goal days of the last seven days, and shrink a little when you rest. New species arrive as your goal days add up: clownfish and blue tang from the first day, then yellow tang, angelfish, neon goby, butterflyfish, royal gramma, pufferfish, mandarinfish, lionfish, moorish idol and, after sixty goal days, a sea turtle. A new arrival is announced on the face. Up to five fish swim at once: the newest one, and the others in turn from day to day. REEF LOG AND FISH GALLERY The Reef log in the menu shows how many species you have, the next one and how many goal days it takes, your total, current and best streak and the last seven days. The Fish gallery shows the twelve species, one per page: the ones still to come are silhouettes. On watches with a touchscreen, press and hold the face to see the log right on the reef. Hold again to hide it. Nothing leaves the watch. ON THE FACE Big time and date above the water, three pills on the sand. Pick what each pill shows: steps, heart rate, watch battery, Body Battery, calories, floors, distance, intensity minutes, notifications or temperature. If your watch has no value, the pill shows -- rather than a made-up number. THREE WATERS Day, Dusk and Night. All of them are yours from the start. ALWAYS-ON A separate always-on design on a black screen: thin time, date and one outlined fish. It shifts slightly every minute to protect the screen. A brighter option is in the menu.
