SETTINGS ON THE WATCH Hold UP, pick Watch Face, select Luna, press START, then Customize. The menu is drawn in the style of the face: Tonight's moon, a short How it works guide, the dial with a live preview, the hemisphere, the data at 9 o'clock, the date window and the always-on brightness. The same settings are in Garmin Connect if you prefer the phone. TONIGHT'S REAL MOON A porthole at 6 o'clock shows the moon as it is tonight: a detailed moon with its seas and craters, the shadow drawn from the date, a soft edge between light and dark, and the faint glow of earthshine on the dark side. The phase is computed on the watch from the mean lunar month, accurate to within about half a day. Under the name, the phase and how much of the moon is lit: WAXING GIBBOUS 81%. MOON AGE Around the porthole, a fine gold scale counts the age of the moon from 0 to 29.5 days, with small moons at new, first quarter, full and last quarter. A gold pointer moves along it day after day. NORTH OR SOUTH Pick the hemisphere you live in, and the moon is drawn the way you see it, with the lit side on the correct side. A DRESS WATCH A polished rim, a railway minute track, applied faceted markers and faceted dauphine hands. Six dials: Aventurine, a deep blue that sparkles like the stone, Ivory with a fine guilloche, Forest and Bordeaux aventurine, Onyx with steel, and Salmon with blued steel hands. THE NEXT FULL MOON On watches with a touchscreen, press and hold the face to see how many days to the next full moon and its date. Tonight's moon in the menu also shows the age, the next full moon and the next new moon. DATE AND DATA A date window at 3 o'clock, which you can hide. At 9 o'clock, one value of your choice: steps, heart rate, watch battery, Body Battery, calories, floors, distance, intensity minutes, notifications or temperature, or nothing at all. If your watch has no value, it shows -- rather than a made-up number. Nothing leaves the watch. ALWAYS-ON A separate always-on design on a black screen: the minute ring, the markers, the hands and the lit part of the moon in grey. It shifts slightly every minute to protect the screen.
