The Instinct 2 Surf look, redrawn for 60+ models with real tides. SurfFace brings the Surf's moulded case, aqua bezel ring and date sub-screen to your AMOLED, then puts today's tide where the Surf had it: the next high or low, and a graph of the whole day. WHAT'S ON THE FACE - Next tide: HI or LO with its time - Tide graph for today, midnight to midnight. Rising tide is bright, falling tide is deep, hour ticks run underneath (brighter every 6 hours) and a lime line and dot show where you are right now - Big time: solid hours, outlined minutes and lime seconds while the watch is awake - Date sub-screen with the day and date - Battery (days left, or % if the watch can't say) and weather, then sunrise and sunset - Phone-connected and alarm-set icons beside the bottom plate - Dim, burn-in-safe always-on mode: the time and the next tide only, nudged a few pixels every minute THE BEZEL RING IS A GAUGE The case ring is a darker track that fills as you go, clockwise from the top. Choose what it tracks: steps goal, Body Battery, watch battery, floors goal, active minutes this week, seconds, or a plain full ring. The ring round the date can do the same, for example filling with seconds. 3 COLOURWAYS Waikiki (aqua), Mavericks (lime) and Bells (grey). The ring, plate edges, minutes and the tide water all follow your choice. MAKE IT YOURS - Top plate: your tide location - Bottom plate: SURF, or any metric with its icon - Two bezel metrics, turned to run up the left and down the right: heart rate (the heart is coloured by your HR zone), steps, Body Battery, calories, floors, stress, altitude or pressure - Four fields in the two rows under the time: battery, weather, sunrise, sunset or any of the metrics above - Show or hide the phone and alarm icons Big numbers are shown in K (1.6K calories, 8.4K steps). TIDE LOCATION - GPS: tides for wherever you are. SurfFace asks for fresh tides when you've moved about 5 km. - Saved places: up to 8 places of your own, each with a name, latitude and longitude. Choose which one in the Connect IQ app, or on the watch under Customise. SETUP: YOUR FREE STORMGLASS KEY SurfFace gets its tide data from StormGlass.io. You need your own free API key: 1. Sign up for a free account at stormglass.io and copy your API key. 2. In the Connect IQ app on your phone, open SurfFace , Settings and paste it into "StormGlass API key". Until a key is entered, the face shows "NO API KEY". Be patient with the first download. Garmin only lets watch faces go online in the background every few minutes, so after you add your key or change place the face shows "LOADING" for a while. It usually takes about 5 minutes, but it can take longer if the first try fails (no phone connection or no GPS fix yet). Keep your phone nearby with Bluetooth on. One StormGlass request fetches a week of highs and lows, so SurfFace only downloads twice a day and keeps the tides on the watch in between. That's well inside the free plan's 10 requests a day. ABOUT THE GRAPH The graph is drawn from the lowest low tide SurfFace has seen at your place to the highest high. It keeps those between downloads, so after a couple of weeks spring tides fill the graph and neap days draw visibly smaller. PRIVACY Your position, or your chosen saved place, is sent only to StormGlass to look up the tides. Nothing else leaves your watch. Compatible with the Instinct 3 AMOLED 45mm and 50mm. Tide predictions are for general guidance only. Always check official tide tables before going on or near the water.
