A special version of Kerfstok (https://apps.garmin.com/apps/b6348ccc-86d8-4780-8013-d9e19fed5260) which can be used to connect directly to Abbott FreeStyle Libre 3 sensors. This makes it possible to leave your phone at home and see the glucose values from Libre 3 sensors on your watch. As the original Kerfstok, can it make use of the Garmin health SDK to record activities, and it displays the speed and distance recorded by Garmin. So you can record your running, cycling or rowing and know your speed and current glucose value without taking your phone with you. This is especially handy when swimming in a lake. The Libre 3 Kerfstok app is not an independent app. You need to start every sensor with Juggluco (https://www.juggluco.nl) and Juggluco needs first to receive data from the Libre 3 sensor and send the information received to Libre 3 Kerfstok, before Libre 3 Kerfstok can connect directly to the sensor. If you scan the sensor a second time with Juggluco, you need to connect the sensor again with Juggluco before Libre 3 Kerfstok can connect directly with the sensor. The Libre 3 Kerfstok sensor only saves data of a small period on the device, for a longer period you need Juggluco. When Libre 3 Kerfstok is directly connected to the sensor, it sends data back to Juggluco, so you can keep Libre 3 Kerfstok constantly connected to the sensor as long as Kerfstok Libre3 regularly gets in to contact with Juggluco on the phone. Currently, 12 hours of data is saved. If you get out of reach for longer, you will lose some of the 1-minute data. All history data, which are 5-minute apart summaries of the 1-minute apart stream values, is saved on the sensor, so these can later be retrieved by Juggluco, but Libre 3 Kerfstok will not retrieve them. So you have to switch the connection back to Juggluco to get them. Added to Libre 3 Kerfstok are also a low glucose alarm, a high glucose alarm and a loss of signal alarm. They can be configured in Juggluco in left menu→Watch→Kerfstok Status→Config→Alarms. The watch will vibrate (or on some watches generate sound) when the alarm goes off, and you have to touch the screen or press a button to stop it. Getting started To use a Libre 3 or Libre 3 PLUS sensor with the Libre 3 Kerfstok app, you first install Juggluco from Google Play https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=tk.glucodata. Thereafter, you have to get the sensor running with Juggluco. If you also want to be able to use the sensor with Abbott’s Libre 3 app, Juggluco needs to have the Libreview account id. During scanning this number is sent to the sensor and if it doesn’t match the account id used to start the sensor, it refuses to work. Juggluco can retrieve this number from Libreview if you enter your account e-mail address and password in left menu→Settings→Exchange data→Libreview and press “Get Account ID”. After scanning the sensor, Juggluco will, after some time, receive glucose values via Blueotooth from the sensor. With this working, you start Libre 3 Kerfstok on your watch. In Juggluco you go to left menu→Watch→Kerfstok Status and select our watch. Check “Active” and “Glucose”. If you wait a few minutes, you will see that glucose values are arriving in Kerfstok. If it doesn’t happen there is something wrong with the connection between Juggluco and Kerfstok, which should be solved first. Connection information is shown in Garmin Status in Juggluco and by swiping left (or using hold up/menu on a 5 key watch) in the “watch face” in Kerfstok. There you need to get to the phone diagnostics section by tapping the screen or the using the select button. If watch and phone are connected, you select “watch” (placed after “Direct sensor-” and before “connection (Libre3)”.). It takes some time before sensor and watch get a connection, get through the authentication and the watch receives a glucose value. WARNING: When in doubt control your glucose with a test-strip in accordance with the advice from your healthcare providers.
