A mechanical movement under glass: an exposed watch mechanism with instruments set into it, large hands over it, and a band of colour across the bottom carrying the digital time. The hour and minute hands are shaped as sword blades, open down the middle so the machinery shows through them, with a slim seconds hand sweeping over everything. The minute hand steps on the minute rather than creeping. Around the rim runs a minute track - a colour marker at every fifth minute, a fine line at every minute between - with 60, 55, 05, 45 and 15 set just inside it as raised figures: luminous faces in polished steel frames, casting shadows onto the plate. Behind the hands the movement works. The wheels turn a step on every tick of the seconds hand, meshed wheels turning opposite ways, and a balance wheel with its hairspring swings from side to side under a screwed bridge. Each wheel is polished chrome, with pointed clock teeth, brushed faces, bright polished edges, a shadow and a ruby set at its arbor, and the balance carries timing screws round its rim under a striped bridge. The plate itself is turned, anodised metal in the dial colour you choose, stepped down into a recessed ring, with engraved spokes and domed screws. Two round gauges are set into it, each with a domed steel bezel over a deep face in the same colour, a segmented arc and a needle. Steps against your daily goal are on the left, heart rate on the right, and the last two blocks of each arc mark the top of the range. Under the 45 and the 15 sit two small readings, each with its icon towards the rim: distance or body battery on the left, calories or elevation on the right. The coloured band across the bottom is brushed metal under a polished steel rail, catching a sheen just below the rail and falling to a deeper tone at the rim. It carries the digital time, the month on the left and the weekday and date on the right, and a battery gauge with a steel bezel sunk into its top edge, with a needle and a curved BATTERY legend. A Bluetooth mark and an alarm bell sit either side of the time. Every number on the face has a drop shadow, the instruments cast soft shadows onto the plate, and the battery dial has a glass reflection over it. Always-on keeps the face readable on black: the hands, the minute track, the gauges traced in outline, the battery needle, the date and the digital time, all dimmed to stay within the display limit. SETTINGS for Illusion Dial colour: graphite, navy, petrol, olive drab, bronze or oxblood. Sets the metal of the plate and the gauge faces. Accent colour: gold, sand, white, ivory, orange, copper, red, olive, green, steel blue, blue or black. Sets the band, the hour hand, the needles and the minute markers together; with black the band is black and the hands and markers are steel. The lettering on the band switches between dark and light to suit the colour. Left reading: distance or body battery. Right reading: calories or elevation. Movement detail: full, seconds only, or none. Full turns the wheels on every second and runs the seconds hand. Seconds only keeps the seconds hand and holds the wheels still. None removes the seconds hand as well. The movement is always shown. Time format follows the watch's own 12/24-hour setting, and distance and elevation follow its units.
