Your Audiobookshelf library, on your wrist. WatchShelf downloads audiobooks and podcasts from your own Audiobookshelf server to a compatible Garmin watch. Listen offline with Bluetooth headphones and leave your phone behind. Two-way listening progress sync helps you continue across devices. REQUIRES YOUR OWN SERVER You need: - A self-hosted Audiobookshelf server with your own library. - The free WatchShelf sidecar, reachable by your watch over HTTPS. - A compatible Garmin watch with support for audio provider apps. WatchShelf does not include books or a hosted library. The sidecar prepares small audio downloads and compact library listings for the watch. Your Audiobookshelf server can remain private; the watch connects through the sidecar. Setup guide: https://github.com/JediBrooker/WatchShelf AUDIOBOOKS AND OFFLINE LISTENING - Browse books by author, series or collection. - Find titles you have already started with Continue Listening. - Download only the part you have not heard yet. - Choose playback speeds from 1.0x to 2.0x. - Skip chapters, jump 30 seconds and see whole-book progress. - Set a sleep timer from 5 minutes to 2 hours. - Sync listening progress with Audiobookshelf. The sleep timer stops at the end of the current audio part, up to about 3 minutes after the selected time. Starting or resuming playback restarts the countdown. AUTOMATIC PODCAST DOWNLOADS Browse shows and download episodes manually, or enable automatic downloads for up to 10 shows. Choose 1-5 unfinished episodes per show, a download order and a playback speed. Partially played episodes count as unfinished. Existing unfinished downloads stay when newer episodes arrive. Finished-episode removal is optional. It applies only to automatic downloads and waits for confirmed listening progress. Manual downloads and episodes marked Keep on watch are protected. Automatic downloads and finished-episode removal start off. Manage enabled shows under Downloaded, Podcast downloads. Automatic downloads request sync while charging. Garmin controls the timing; Sync now also works without charging. Podcast episodes must already be downloaded in Audiobookshelf. SET UP YOUR WAY Configure the app through Garmin Connect using your WatchShelf sidecar URL and Audiobookshelf API key, or log in on the watch. Your password is not stored. GOOD TO KNOW - Keep the watch app and sidecar updated together. - Downloads can take time, especially for long books. - Choosing a new playback speed may require another download. - The player's time bar covers the current audio part; whole-book progress appears in the player information. - Automatic sync does not guarantee a particular overnight start time. WATCHSHELF b42 AUTOMATIC PODCAST DOWNLOADS Follow your favourite shows and let WatchShelf request new downloads while your watch is charging. - Enable up to 10 shows, keeping 1-5 unfinished episodes per show. - Choose newest-first or oldest-first download order and a speed from 1.0x to 2.0x. - Keep existing unfinished downloads when newer episodes arrive. Partially played episodes count as unfinished. - Optionally remove finished automatic downloads after Audiobookshelf confirms their listening progress. - Choose Keep on watch to protect an episode from automatic removal. Automatic downloads and finished-episode removal are both off by default. To enable: open Downloaded, Browse library, a podcast library, Shows, a show, then Automatic downloads. Manage enabled shows under Downloaded, Podcast downloads. Use Sync now for an immediate check, including when the watch is not charging. Garmin controls when automatic sync runs, so there is no fixed overnight schedule. UPDATE YOUR SIDECAR Automatic podcast downloads require the updated WatchShelf sidecar. Episodes must already be downloaded in Audiobookshelf; configure podcast feed downloads there separately. This release also includes the recent sleep timer, phone API-key setup improvements and startup compatibility fixes. Setup and update instructions: https://github.com/JediBrooker/WatchShelf
