Description

Surftrail Surf Tracker records your surf session on the watch. Press start, paddle out, and the app detects the waves you ride from your GPS speed and counts your paddle strokes from your wrist motion. On the watch you see waves, elapsed time and current speed live. After the session the summary shows waves, longest ride, top speed, paddle strokes, paddle and ride time and, when available and permitted, heart rate and calories. The session is saved as a Surfing activity in Garmin Connect with waves and paddle strokes as extra data fields. With the Surftrail phone app (iOS and Android) you can pull the session into your surf logbook, add spot, board and conditions, and follow your progress over time. Syncing is free; your first watch session is free to explore in full, every session with Surftrail Pro. Privacy: Surftrail uses GPS speed for wave detection. Its session summaries contain no coordinates. The watch app makes no internet requests. Sessions transfer to the phone app over Connect IQ and are stored locally without uploads to our servers. The native Garmin activity is also synced by Garmin Connect under Garmin's own settings and privacy policy. Requires a watch with GPS and an accelerometer. Wave and stroke counts are estimates and can differ from your real session depending on conditions.

What is new

Version 1.1.2 • No more accidental stops in the water: while recording, the app now reacts to the physical buttons only. Water on the touchscreen can no longer stop, save or restart a session. • Stopping asks for confirmation: press START, then START again to save. A single stray button press no longer ends your session. • More reliable tracking: if the motion sensor stops delivering data, waves keep being counted from GPS and the watch tells you. • Fixed a crash on Start on some watches. • Clearer message after saving: your session is safe on the watch and syncs later in the phone app.
