Description

A sky pointer for Garmin watches. Pick an object (the Sun, the Moon, a planet, a bright star), hold the watch up with the back facing the sky, and the object is drawn where it really is behind the case. Move your arm until the marker settles in the middle of the screen and you are looking straight at it. It is the idea behind a phone astronomy app held up with its camera, on a wrist, with no network, no phone, and no chart to orient yourself against first.

What is new

- Opening the Planets or Stars list crashed the app to the Connect IQ error screen on every watch whose firmware is below API 5, first reported on an Instinct 2X Solar (Connect IQ 3.4.3). The lists are sorted by name, and the sort used String.compareTo, which only arrived in API 5.0. Names are now compared letter by letter with calls from API 1.3. Every release since V1.0.1 carried the crash. - The horizon grid's scale label reads az/alt instead of alt/az.
