Description
Written for: climbers browsing the Garmin Connect IQ store.
Track every pitch of a multi-pitch climb directly on your Garmin watch. Switch between six activity phases — Approach, Lead, Follow, Belay, Rappel and Descent — with a single menu press, and the watch records each one as a separate lap in the FIT file.
The pitch screen shows live data fields for UIAA grade, altitude gain, current altitude, phase time and heart-rate zone, all colour-coded at a glance. Lead and follow pitches display the assigned grade in yellow; negative ascent flips to orange so you instantly see a descent or rappel. Heart rate is coloured by zone from white through blue, green, amber to red.
After saving, a full activity summary shows total time, distance, average and max HR, pitch count, max grade reached, total climbing ascent and climbing time. Every phase also appears as a named lap in Garmin Connect with grade, ascent and start altitude — and two custom chart overlays let you visualise phase type and difficulty across the full timeline of the activity.
You can see the additional fields (grades, pitches, etc) as CIQ data fields in Garmin Connect Web.
This is still early BETA version, data fields are still hardcoded and cannot be changed yet. Will come in future versions.
Please feel free to provide feedback, especially what kind of data fields you would be interested in.
