Description

Ski & Snowboard App splits your day on the slopes into runs, lifts and stops on its own and measures every run: time, distance, vertical, top speed and steepness, with a rating like a blue, red or black piste. Nothing to press in gloves. Start once at the bottom. The barometer, GPS and speed tell a chairlift from a run, including slow, careful descents. A run ends only at a lift: stopping halfway down for the view, for friends or for lunch does not split it, and the few metres ridden from one top station to the next lift are a transfer, not a run. When you get on the lift, the watch shows the card for the run you just finished: time, distance, vertical, top speed, average and maximum steepness and the rating. The rating takes the steepest 150-metre stretch of the run: up to 30 % like a blue, up to 40 % like a red, above that like a black. We set these thresholds by comparing more than 4,000 runs with the official difficulty of the pistes. The app knows the steepness, not the name of the piste, hence "like". Screens: the run, the lift (lift time and height gained, temperature and wind), the last run, weather (temperature, feels-like, wind and the forecast for the next hours, from Garmin weather via your phone), heart rate with a ten-minute chart and zone, your day and the run history. The watch switches to the right main screen by itself. Seven layouts and 43 fields; edit them on the watch or in the Garmin Connect app on your phone. The activity is saved in Garmin Connect as resort skiing or snowboarding (you choose) with one lap per run and a Ski & Snowboard App section: runs, lifts, run distance and time, vertical on runs, lift time, distance and vertical, top and average run speed, stop time, steepest run section and heart rate on runs. It syncs on to Strava like any other activity. Runs on 39 Garmin watches with a barometer: epix (Gen 2) and epix Pro, fēnix 6 Pro to 9 Pro and fēnix E, Enduro, tactix, quatix, D2, Forerunner 955/965/970, Venu 3, Venu 4, Venu X1 and vívoactive 4. Eight languages: English, Polish, German, French, Italian, Czech, Slovak, Spanish. Two free trial days (24 h each, started on the watch, phone needed once). Then a one-time unlock code from our website (EUR 5, no subscription), tied to the watch ID shown on the Licence screen. The app is in beta: detection is hardest in enclosed gondolas, tunnels and dense forest, where GPS fades, so try it at your own resort first. Not a safety device: follow the resort's rules and judge the conditions yourself. Not affiliated with Garmin.
