Forget to assign your shoes on your phone after a run? Shoe Mileage lets you choose them on your Garmin watch, then keeps each pair's distance and run history at shoemileage.co.uk. Especially useful for supported older Garmin watches without built-in on-watch gear selection. Garmin offers native gear tracking on selected models; check whether your watch already has it. Shoe Mileage is an independent alternative with its own web tracker and does not update Garmin Connect Gear. Record your run as usual. After you save it, Shoe Mileage can prompt you to choose the pair you wore. If the prompt does not appear, open Shoe Mileage on your watch and select your recent run. SET UP YOUR TRACKER 1. Open https://shoemileage.co.uk on your phone. Create your tracker and save its recovery key somewhere private. 2. Add your shoes. You can choose colours, starting mileage, a lifespan target and kilometres or miles. 3. Install Shoe Mileage from the Connect IQ Store and sync your watch in Garmin Connect. 4. On the website, open the Garmin tab and create a temporary pairing code. 5. On your phone, open Connect IQ Store → My Device → My Apps → Shoe Mileage → Settings. 6. Enter the code, save it, press Back and manually sync your watch in Garmin Connect. 7. Open Shoe Mileage on your watch once while connected to your phone and the internet. Check that your shoes appear. FIND THE APP ON YOUR WATCH Start from the watch face and open the activities/apps list, where you normally choose Run. On many button watches, press START. On touchscreen watches, use the app button or Apps menu. Scroll to Shoe Mileage. If it is not in your favourites, check All apps, More or Add. If it is missing, check installation in Connect IQ and sync again. AFTER EACH RUN 1. Record and save your normal Garmin run. 2. Look for the shoe prompt, usually about 15 seconds after the watch reports the run as completed. Timing can vary. 3. Choose your shoes. If the prompt is missed, open Shoe Mileage on the watch and use the recent-run option. 4. To upload, keep Garmin Connect connected to your watch and the internet. Open Shoe Mileage on the watch, then tap Refresh on the website. 5. Chose the wrong pair? Open Runs on the website and change Shoes worn for that run. YOUR SHOE COLLECTION The website now has kilometres/miles, adjustable lifespan targets, starting mileage, shoe colours, individual shoe details and run history. Retire or reactivate pairs without losing their history. The website supports 10 active pairs and 20 retired pairs. The current watch release supports up to six active pairs. Compare shoe usage over the last week, month, three months, six months, year or all time. Choose which shoes to compare and tap a coloured graph point to see its runs. ADD IT TO YOUR PHONE'S HOME SCREEN The Garmin tab has illustrated instructions for adding the website as a web app. On iPhone/iPad, open it in Safari → Share → Add to Home Screen → Add. On Android, use Chrome → three-dot menu → Add to home screen or Install app. Save your recovery key first. If the new icon opens the welcome page, choose Open your existing account and use that key. No Apple App Store download is needed. OFFLINE AND SYNCING After pairing and loading your shoes, shoe selection works without your phone or internet. Saved selections upload when connectivity returns. Website Refresh cannot retrieve a run still waiting on the watch. Free public beta. Shoe Mileage keeps its own totals and does not update Garmin Connect Gear. It does not receive your GPS routes, heart rate or Garmin password. Existing accounts and pairings are kept.
