Description

CoachCian is the Connect IQ companion to the CoachCian iPhone training-coach app. It records a run while showing the target distance and target pace from today's planned workout, and vibrates when you drift off pace. PAIRING 1. Install CoachCian on your iPhone (App Store). 2. Open CoachCian → Settings → Garmin Watch. Copy the 8-character pairing code. 3. In Garmin Connect on your iPhone, go to My Watch → Connect IQ Apps → CoachCian → Settings. Paste the code into "Pairing Code" and save. 4. Open the CoachCian app on your watch. Today's planned workout (if you have one) will load automatically. IDLE SCREEN If a workout is planned for today, the watch shows the title (e.g. "Easy 5k"), the target distance, and the target pace. Tap Start (touch or START/STOP) to begin recording. If no workout is planned, or your phone isn't in Bluetooth range, the watch falls back to a free-run recorder — tap Start and run. DURING THE RUN The screen shows TIME, distance, current pace, and heart rate. When a target pace is set, the current pace is colour-coded against the target — white when on pace, yellow when too slow, orange when too fast. The target pace itself appears under the PACE column in CoachCian blue. If you drift more than 20 seconds per kilometre off your target pace for five or more seconds, the watch vibrates and shows a SPEED UP or SLOW DOWN banner across the bottom of the screen. The alert backs off for 30 seconds after firing so it doesn't nag you while you adjust. The first 60 seconds of every run are quiet — GPS pace hasn't settled yet, so an alert that early would be misleading. ENDING THE RUN Tap the screen, or press BACK or MENU, to bring up Save / Discard / Resume. Save writes a standard Garmin FIT activity that syncs to Garmin Connect on your next Bluetooth window — the same path as a built-in Garmin Run activity. From Garmin Connect the run flows on to Apple Health, where CoachCian's HealthKit auto-import picks it up alongside the planned workout. WHAT THIS APP DOES NOT DO - It does not speak to you. Connect IQ does not support text-to-speech, so coaching cues are vibration and on-screen banners instead of voice. The CoachCian iPhone app does spoken coaching if you run with the phone in your pocket and Bluetooth headphones. - It does not stream live metrics back to the iPhone. The run is recorded on the watch and syncs through Garmin Connect afterwards. - It does not collect personal data, advertising IDs, or background location. See the linked privacy policy for full details. REQUIRES - Forerunner 265 or Forerunner 965 (Connect IQ API level 5.0 or higher). - CoachCian iPhone app, build 90 or later. - Garmin Connect mobile app, paired with your watch.
