RivalSplit turns official checkpoint timing into clear, glanceable race information on your Garmin watch. See how far you are ahead or behind the competitors that matter to you—without searching through a full result list. Plan your race at rivalsplit.com. Select an event and a reference participant, then choose up to ten fixed competitors. You can also follow the leader, the nearest participant ahead and the nearest participant behind. Send the setup to your watch and start your normal Garmin activity. During the race, RivalSplit can show: - The current official timing checkpoint - Time gaps ahead, behind or level with the reference participant - Fixed competitors and automatically selected race positions without duplicates - A standings view sorted by recorded time, with the reference participant highlighted - Relay team and leg information when supported by the timing data - A visual and optional vibration alert when a new checkpoint is received Choose automatic switching or keep a fixed comparison or standings view. Display time can be adjusted separately for each competitor and for each standings page. If the connection is temporarily lost, RivalSplit keeps the last valid information on screen and resumes updating when the connection returns. RivalSplit is checkpoint-based, not GPS-based. Information becomes available after the event's official timing service has registered and published a passing. RivalSplit is a race aid and does not replace the organiser's official results, timing or safety information. Requirements: - A RivalSplit account and a supported event - RivalSplit added as a full-screen data field in a compatible activity profile - An available Connect IQ network connection for live updates; for most watches, this means a paired phone running Garmin Connect with internet access RivalSplit is currently in beta. Access to the website may be limited to invited users during the test period. Installation and setup - Install RivalSplit from the Connect IQ Store and sync your watch. - Add RivalSplit as one full-screen data field in the Garmin activity profile you want to use. - Open that data screen on the watch. RivalSplit will display a pairing code. - Sign in at rivalsplit.com and open Settings - Watches. - Enter the pairing code. - Plan a race on the website and select Send to watch. - Start your Garmin activity. The selected race loads automatically. Connectivity note Live data requires an available internet path for Connect IQ. Bluetooth alone does not provide timing data if the paired phone has no internet access. During a temporary interruption, the last successfully received race information remains visible. Privacy and permissions RivalSplit requests the Connect IQ Communications permission only. It uses this permission to pair the watch with a RivalSplit account and download the race setup and checkpoint information selected on rivalsplit.com. The data field does not request access to the watch's GPS position, heart rate, sensor data, activity history or contacts, and it does not upload the user's Garmin activity recording to RivalSplit. A device token and display preferences are stored on the watch so the selected race can be retrieved securely.
