My latest app applies the anaerobic work balance (WBal) model developed by Skiba, specifically adapted for running (specific TAU constants). This tool allows real-time monitoring of anaerobic energy consumption and recovery during training sessions or races. The main goal is to help athletes optimize their effort, avoiding excessive energy expenditure that could lead to premature fatigue. The app is particularly useful for planning pacing strategies, identifying critical points in challenging courses, and making informed decisions about when to push harder or conserve energy. In short, it’s an innovative solution that translates advanced physiology and performance concepts into a practical and user-friendly tool for runners of all levels.
