Description
Just Dot is a data watch face built around a dot-matrix display. The time and seconds are drawn on a pixel grid, and the four corner data fields curve along the round progress bars that frame the screen, so the layout stays readable without crowding the centre.
LAYOUT
Ten configurable data fields, each chosen from 70 options:
- one at the top and one at the bottom
- four in the corners, printed along the curved progress bars
- one above and one below the time
- one on each side of the time
The four corner fields show the label on the outer ring and the value on the inner one, following the curve of the bar next to them. The field to the right of the time can be set to Seconds instead.
Six progress bars: four segmented rings in the corners and two straight bars above and below the time. Each is chosen from 12 metrics and has its own filled and empty colour.
DATA
Steps, floors, distance, calories, active minutes, altitude, heart rate, resting heart rate, body battery, stress, respiration, SpO2, VO2 max, recovery time, sleep score, training status, weekly run and bike distance, move bar, battery percentage and battery in days, notifications, week number, secondary time zone, sunrise and sunset, moonrise and moonset, moon phase, solar intensity, location, coordinates and MGRS.
Weather from the watch itself or from OpenWeatherMap: condition with colour icons, temperature, feels like, humidity, dew point, pressure, wind and gusts, wind direction, cloud cover, visibility, precipitation chance, rain and snow, UV index, air quality, today's minimum and maximum.
Sleep score and training status come from Garmin complications and need a watch running Connect IQ 6.0.2 or later. On older firmware those two fields stay empty; everything else works.
OPENWEATHERMAP
OWM fields are optional. The watch's own weather needs nothing, but it only gives the current conditions.
To use OpenWeatherMap you need your own API key. Create a free account at openweathermap.org, generate a key, and paste it into the watch face settings. The free tier is enough for this face. A new key can take up to two hours before it starts working, so if the fields show dashes at first, give it some time.
Set how often the weather refreshes in the settings. Longer intervals use less battery.
COLOURS
Twenty ready-made themes: Tactical, Military, Cyberpunk, Stealth, Sunset, Ocean, Forest, Inferno, Arctic, Royal, Carbon, Matrix, Glacier, Amber, Crimson, Mint, Magma, Twilight, Sand, plus Default to reset.
Pick Custom and every element gets its own colour: background, foreground, labels, hours, minutes, and separate filled and empty colours for each of the six progress bars. Colours are entered as six-character hex codes, which lets you match any shade you want rather than choosing from a short list. There is a colour chart further down in the screenshots with the code next to each swatch, so you can pick one without knowing hex.
An optional gradient background is available on AMOLED watches.
Auto-colour can be switched on to tint values by how good they are, so a low battery or a high stress reading stands out without you reading the number.
OTHER SETTINGS
- 12 or 24 hour time, with or without a leading zero
- six date formats, and an option to force day and month names to English
- seconds always on, or only while the watch is awake
- show all data in always-on display, on AMOLED watches
- pressure in mmHg, mbar or inHg
- wind speed in m/s, km/h, mph or knots
- daily calorie goal
- secondary time zone, including half-hour offsets
NOTES
Position comes from the watch GPS, or from the last known location when GPS is off. Location, coordinates and MGRS all use it, as do sunrise, sunset and the moon times.
If a field shows dashes, the watch has no data for it yet. Weather needs a sync with the phone, and position fields need a GPS fix.
Settings are edited in the Garmin Connect app under the watch face settings, or from Connect IQ on the watch itself.
