Description
BIG NUMBERS. YOUR DATA. ONE SCREEN.
Give your Garmin Edge 1050 a distinctive full-screen cycling cockpit. Cutting Edge brings bold ride readings, a numbered color gauge, zone-aware heart rate and power, graphical electronic gearing and ride conditions into one configurable dashboard.
YOUR RIDE. IN FOCUS.
• Big current readings, with average and maximum comparisons close at hand.
• A numbered gauge with current, average and maximum speed indicators.
• Heart-rate and power zone bars, with zone-aware digit colors.
• Graphical Di2 gearing, current grade and cadence when data is available.
• Weather temperature, rider-relative wind, rain outlook and sunset countdown.
• Dark, Light and Auto appearance, plus metric, imperial or device units.
MAKE IT YOURS
Choose from 35 data types across 14 configurable cells and two center comparisons. Choices vary by cell; the main gauge supports seven metrics. Set your header items, wind mode, comparisons, grade smoothing, unit labels, sensor profile, fallbacks and FTP. Settings are available through Connect IQ and the supported on-device settings menu.
A power meter or electronic drivetrain is not required to use Cutting Edge. Pair the sensors you have and choose fields that suit your ride. Missing readings show a dash unless a configured fallback is enabled.
PACE, EFFORT AND DRIVETRAIN
See speed, distance and ride time together. Track current heart rate and power alongside averages, maximums and zones. The gear view shows the selected front chainring, rear gear, tooth counts and gear position when a compatible electronic drivetrain supplies them.
TRAINING AND ENERGY
Training Stress is Cutting Edge's power/FTP-based estimate, not an official TrainingPeaks TSS score or Garmin Training Effect. It requires valid FTP and power observed while the field runs; incomplete observation may produce an approximate value or no estimate. Calories use available activity data. Burn Rate is Garmin's available energy-expenditure estimate in kcal/min, not mechanical work measured by the power meter. These are training estimates, not medical measurements.
WIND, WEATHER AND DAYLIGHT
By default, the wind arrow shows the direction weather wind is blowing relative to your travel heading. It is not measured apparent wind or a stationary compass; a valid travel heading is needed.
The rain panel uses Garmin's cached hourly forecast to show approximate arrival, duration, condition/intensity and probability where supplied. It is not AccuWeather MinuteCast, radar or minute-by-minute prediction. Availability and freshness depend on location and Garmin weather synchronization.
Sunset includes a countdown and a 12-hour clock. Elevation shows ascent, descent and recent recorded history, not the upcoming course. Auto appearance follows the Edge's night-mode setting.
GET RIDING
1. Install through Connect IQ and sync your Edge 1050.
2. Add a data screen with a ONE-FIELD layout to your chosen activity profile, then select Cutting Edge.
3. Open Cutting Edge Settings to choose your data and appearance.

Edge 1050 only. Cutting Edge is an independent data field, not a replacement for Garmin navigation or the entire device interface. Promotional screens use representative simulator readings; riding scenes are illustrative. Font/icon notices are under Legal notices in Settings.
