Old seismographs recorded earthquakes on a rotating drum of soot-blackened paper: a fine stylus scratched a bright line through the black. Roetdrum (Dutch for "soot drum") turns your watch into that drum, and the tremor it records is your heart. • THE LAST HOUR OF YOUR HEART - every minute a new heart-rate sample is scratched into the rim. Together they form a living seismogram of the past ~55 minutes: calm, flat stretches at rest, mountains when you climb the stairs, sharp peaks during intervals. • THE STYLUS IS THE MINUTE HAND - the red stylus always sits on the current minute. Just ahead of it the paper is freshly smoked and blank, so you can see at a glance where "now" is. • HEART-RATE ZONES IN INK - the trace is coloured by your own Garmin heart-rate zones (white, blue, green, orange, red), or pick a single ink: chalk white, amber or cyan. • 10K STEPS - a ring of ten segments, one per 1,000 steps, fills around the time. Reach your goal and the whole ring turns green. • BATTERY - always on top, turns red below 20% and green while charging. • CLEAR CENTRE - big digital time, date, current heart rate and steps. • MADE FOR BOTH SCREEN TYPES - all colours sit on the 64-colour grid of memory-in-pixel screens. On AMOLED watches the always-on mode shows only a dim trace, the time and heart rate, shifted every minute and scan-lined against burn-in. Heart rate is refreshed once per minute. When the face starts it rebuilds the last hour from your watch's heart-rate history, so the drum is never empty.
