Description

A clock read the way an old car dashboard is read: needles on printed dials, set behind a painted fascia with polished trim round every gauge. Hours run across the top of the centre dial, numbered 1 to 12 with a tick at every half hour. The hour needle steps from mark to mark, so it always points at the hour you are in. Minutes run across the bottom, a mark every minute and a number every ten. In the dark well between the two scales, a digital readout gives you the exact time at a glance, or switch it to the weekday and date if you would rather read the needles for the time. Around the rim, four more gauges. POWER across the top is the battery, on a 0-100 scale with a red zone below 20% and a charge alert beside it. BODY POWER across the bottom is body battery, with the same red zone. PULSE and STEPS sit on either side, each carrying its own reading. Current temperature and a weather glyph - sun, moon, or either behind cloud, picked from real sunrise and sunset for your location - sit in the centre. The dial is built in layers, like the real thing. The gauge faces sit at the back, with their graduations and numerals printed in a classic instrument typeface. Over them is a black wrinkle-finish fascia with a window cut for each gauge. It stands off the faces, so it casts a real shadow into every window. Each window is ringed in polished trim, the captions are painted on the fascia, and four slotted screws hold it down. The centre well sits one step lower again. The needles ride above it all and cast their own shadows. Always-on shows the same dial, dimmed, with all four needles and the time in the middle. It is measured against the display brightness limit, so it stays lit instead of blanking after a few seconds. SETTINGS for Gauger Dial: black and chrome, or ivory and brass. Black faces with cream numerals and chrome trim, or aged ivory faces with black numerals and brass trim. Centre display: digital clock, or day and date. Clock font: instrument segments, or vintage numerals. Display weather: on or off. Shows or hides the temperature and weather glyph in the centre. Temperature units: follow the watch, Celsius or Fahrenheit. Time format follows the watch's own 12/24-hour setting.
