A faster, larger drop is read as better recovery capacity and aerobic fitness. How it works - Stop your workout, open the app, and press START as soon as "Ready" shows. Then sit or stand still for 2 minutes. - At 1 minute the watch vibrates and shows the 1-minute drop; at 2 minutes it shows the result: start HR, 1-min and 2-min drop, and a grade (Excellent / Good / Fair / Low). - Start HR is the maximum within 5 s after START; the 1- and 2-minute values use the median of the surrounding seconds to smooth sensor noise. Features - Grades: 1 min 25/18/12 bpm and 2 min 45/35/22 bpm bounds, simplified from common recovery heart-rate ranges (reference only). - History with the average of the last 5 measurements and a result card for every record. - Built-in Help in 8 languages: English, Korean, German, French, Spanish, Japanese, Traditional and Simplified Chinese. Language follows the watch or can be set in the app. - Uses only the wrist optical heart rate. A temporary recording session keeps the sensor awake and is never saved to Garmin Connect. Notes - Compare measurements after similar efforts: after light exercise the start HR is low and the drop is small. - Screen-on time follows your watch setting (System - Display - During Activity). - Free, no ads. Personal wellness reference only, not a medical device and not a diagnosis. - Tested on Forerunner 965; other models built but not yet verified.
