Description

oarbit records your rowing session on your Garmin watch: distance and split from GPS, heart rate from the wrist, and stroke rate, which the app measures itself from your arm movement. PILOT VERSION (BETA) This is the pilot version for rowers of participating clubs. It talks to the oarbit test server and may still change. Recording works for everyone. Connecting to oarbit only works with an oarbit account through your club and the oarbit app on an iPhone (in the pilot via TestFlight; there is no Android app yet). HOW IT WORKS - Open the app and press START. The data screen shows split /500 m, stroke rate, kilometres, time and heart rate. - START pauses: resume, save or discard. - After saving you see average split, average stroke rate, average heart rate and your splits per 500 m. - The session goes to Garmin Connect like any other activity, with its own "Schlagzahl" (stroke rate) chart. - Erg: on watches with ANT+ (not Forerunner 55, Instinct E and Instinct 3 Solar 45), "Ergo" connects the watch to a Concept2 rowing machine (PM5) and shows time, metres, split, stroke rate, watts and heart rate. GPS stays off. - "Fahrten" (sessions) lists your last ten sessions and whether they reached oarbit. CONNECT TO OARBIT oarbit is an app for rowing clubs: training, dates and logs in one place. You get an account through your club. You connect the watch once with a code: the watch shows six characters, you enter them in the oarbit app on your phone (in the German app: Profil → Uhr & Dienste → Garmin-Uhr; available to athletes from age group Junior B). The first time you connect, the watch shows "Your route goes to oarbit" once; you connect by pressing OK. After that the watch sends every saved session to oarbit, and oarbit matches it to your training by the time of day. WITHOUT AN OARBIT ACCOUNT The watch also records without a connection. The session goes to Garmin Connect, but not to oarbit. REQUIREMENTS - a supported Garmin watch paired with the Garmin Connect app on your phone (this uses a Garmin account, Garmin's terms apply) - for transfer to oarbit: an oarbit account through your club and the oarbit app on an iPhone (pilot: TestFlight) UNDER 16 AT OARBIT If you are under 16, a parent approves the watch in the oarbit app. Until then the watch shows "Waiting for approval" and keeps your recordings. YOUR DATA - The route of your session goes to oarbit, as a simplified line and only from a recording made while the watch is connected to oarbit. Never live, never single positions. You and your coaching team can see it, the group cannot. The first time you connect, the watch shows a notice about this once, which you confirm with OK; nothing goes to oarbit before that. - Also sent to oarbit: start, duration, distance in metres, stroke rate and splits per 500 m, and the name of the watch model. - oarbit only receives your heart rate if you agreed to the consent "Belastung" (training load) in oarbit. Otherwise it stays on the watch. - Erg sessions go to oarbit like boat sessions (start, duration, metres, stroke rate, splits), without a route. The values come from the rowing machine. - The app does not store or send raw sensor data. - Nothing is sent to oarbit without a connection. Sessions recorded without a connection stay on the watch. - Garmin receives the session, including route and heart rate, like any activity through your Garmin account (Garmin Connect). Garmin's privacy policy applies to that. The data sent to oarbit goes to oarbit, not to Garmin. - Disconnect: on the watch press MENU (Forerunner 165: hold UP), "Disconnect from oarbit". Or in the oarbit app under Profil → Uhr & Dienste → Garmin-Uhr. - Privacy policy: https://oarbit.de/datenschutz#uhr CONTROLS Buttons only. Tapping does nothing, so a wet wrist cannot pause your session. Help and questions: [SUPPORT-E-MAIL] oarbit is independent and not affiliated with Garmin. No ads, no in-app purchases.
