Description

Darkroom times your black-and-white film from the first pour of developer to the last rinse, and tells you when to agitate by tapping your wrist. You do not have to look at the screen: a strong pulse starts each agitation, a short pulse marks each inversion, and a triple pulse ten seconds before the end tells you to start pouring out. Developer, stop bath, fixer, the Ilford 5/10/20 wash and the wetting agent follow each other on their own. It works out the developing time for you. Pick a film and developer from a starter list of times published in the Ilford and Kodak datasheets, or save your own combinations. Darkroom applies push or pull, then corrects for temperature with the Ilford or Kodak time-temperature table, and warns when a time drops under five minutes. The screen runs in deep red by default, with no white light anywhere in the app. WHAT IT DOES - Developing time from film, developer, dilution 1+n, EI and base time, corrected for push/pull and for temperature (Ilford chart or Kodak table) - Uses the datasheet time for the pushed EI when one exists, otherwise an adjustable push factor per stop - Agitation as vibration: Ilford (4 inversions per minute), Kodak (every 30 s), stand, or your own pattern such as 30 s first and then 10 s every minute - Full process countdown with a pour-out warning: developer, stop bath, fixer, wash and wetting agent; +30 s, pause and skip at any time - Ilford wash method with a counted inversion metronome for the 5, 10 and 20 inversion rinses - Fixer tracker: rolls per litre, clip test stopwatch, fixing time of twice the clearing time, and an exhausted warning when the clearing time has doubled - Mixing amounts for developer, stop bath and fixer for your tank volume - Time-temperature table for the current combination, from 2 °C below to 2 °C above your temperature - Up to 20 of your own combinations and a logbook of 60 sessions that you can start again in one step - Deep red mode for night vision and the print darkroom, glance with the running step, 5 languages WHAT IT NEEDS - A watch with vibration. No phone, no sensors and no internet needed. - Panchromatic film is sensitive to red light too: load reels in total darkness and keep the screen covered or away from undeveloped film. Turn off the backlight gesture before you start. - Times are starting points from manufacturer datasheets; test and adjust for your own process.
