Description

Forgot your charger? Watch battery at 3%? Going on an off-grid trip without power? "Hanging by a Thread" is an ultra-minimalist, emergency battery-saver watch face designed with one single goal: to keep your watch alive and displaying the time for as long as humanly possible. When you find yourself in a situation where you cannot charge your watch for days or weeks, normal watch faces will quickly drain your battery with background sensors, animations, and high-frequency updates. "Hanging by a Thread" strips away all unnecessary calculations to sip micro-amps of power. How It Saves Your Battery (Under the Hood): Zero Sensor Polling: No heart rate history checks, no active activity tracking loops, and no GPS/location requests. If the watch hardware is running sensors, this watch face won't ask for the data, letting the processor sleep. No High-Power Mode Updates: Most watch faces update every single second (with a ticking second hand or seconds counter). This watch face updates only once per minute—saving thousands of screen draws per hour. Ultra-Minimal Display: Drawn using a clean, native system font on a pure black background (which consumes virtually zero extra power). Smart Resource Drawing: The date is drawn above the time ONLY at the top of the hour (when minutes = 0). For the other 59 minutes of the hour, only the clock is displayed, reducing active CPU draw to the absolute minimum. No Background Processes: No background temporal events or internet connections. How to Maximize Your Watch's "Survival Mode": While this watch face is coded to be as power-efficient as possible, you can extend your battery even further by adjusting your Garmin system settings: Turn off wrist heart rate tracking (Settings / Sensors & Accessories / Wrist Heart Rate / Off). Set Pulse Ox to Manual or Off. Turn off your phone Bluetooth connection and Wi-Fi.
