Description
CoreTemp – Core Temperature Trends for Garmin
CoreTemp is a widget that combines the watch's available temperature and heart-rate signals, with HRV (SDNN) when available, to estimate core-temperature trends. The value labelled Skin comes from the watch's temperature signal; its availability depends on the model and firmware. Core temperature is an estimate, not a medical thermometer reading or a diagnosis.
Features
• Background calculations scheduled every 5 minutes in both trial and subscriber modes. A new estimate requires valid sensor data; missing or stale core values show --.
• Colour-coded Skin and Core displays in °C or °F. Subscribers also see heart rate and fresh HRV (SDNN), when available.
• History available from the widget menu: up to 2 hours of core history in trial mode, or 6 hours of skin and core history for subscribers, with a maximum of 90 stored readings. Missing calculation periods remain visible as gaps.
• Scenario-based estimation follows changes in rest, activity and thermal conditions using the available sensor evidence.
• Calibration applies a correction within ±0.7 °C without rewriting existing history.
• Temperature alerts can be enabled or disabled persistently. Vibration is configurable; subscribers also have alert interval, tone and backlight options.
• Subscriber data uploads resume in small batches after interruptions. View your uploaded data and download JSON from the Dashboard at https://felixgear.net via Subscriber Login. Direct email/TXT export from the watch is no longer used.
• Version 9.4 improves rectangular layouts on Venu Sq 2, Sq 2 Music and Venu X1, fixes history point placement and HR/HRV overlap, and adds more compatible device profiles.
• Version 9.4.1 restores the widget preview and improves history responsiveness, while retaining existing data and layouts.
Getting started and updating
Wear the watch with heart-rate measurement enabled. When upgrading from a version older than 9.4, the core estimate and graph need a new valid background calculation. The graph starts with fresh data; previously stored legacy history is retained. The 9.4.1 update retains existing 9.4 history.
On models without native temperature-history access, the widget needs available live temperature data and a continuous 10-minute foreground session to build its temperature window. Support in the Store's Compatible Devices list does not guarantee that every firmware exposes the required temperature signal.
This is a widget. It does not add a workout data field or record temperature into activity files, and it does not connect to an external CORE sensor.
Subscription and support
Subscriber features require an active FeliXGear subscription. For activation, current pricing, supported apps and the Dashboard, visit https://felixgear.net.
For help, use Contact Developer on this Store page or the contact options at https://felixgear.net. Please include your watch model, firmware, CoreTemp version and what you see on screen. If CoreTemp is useful to you, a review is always appreciated. Thank you!
What is new
v9.4.1
- Fixed icon-only glance; faster history redraws. Existing data and layouts retained.
v9.4.0
- Fixed Venu Sq 2/Music and Venu X1 layouts, HR/HRV overlap and history point placement.
- Transparent Skin/Core headings on colour displays.
- Added 13 compatible device profiles.
- Improved history memory use and resumable subscriber uploads.
- Fixed persistent alert disabling, calibration (±0.7 °C) and missing-data handling.
- History is now accessible from the menu; graph gaps remain visible.
After updating, a valid new calculation is needed. Older stored history is retained.
v9.3.0
- Added daytime HRV display to the main screen.
- Improved scenario detection between light activity, household movement, and rest.
- Improved passive heat-load detection for hot days.
- More reliable background alerts and app wake-up behavior.
- Reduced background battery usage by throttling network operations.
- Multiple algorithm tuning updates for core-temperature response speed and stability.
v9.2.0
Added retroactive support for Vivoactive 4 (best-effort compatibility; functionality is not guaranteed).
Updated workout detection logic to improve cold-weather training recognition.
v9.1.0
Added support for the Venu 4 series and Fenix 8.
v9.0.0
Introduced 3 new scenarios.
Algorithm optimization for more accurate measurements.
v8.1.0
Added compatibility with the new Venu X1 model.
Optimized background calculations for improved efficiency and battery life.
v8.0.2
New supported device: Venu X1
v8.0.1
Micro fix: Users without a Donor ID can no longer upload data.
v8.0.0
Major Data Export & Dashboard Update
What’s new:
- No more direct export from the watch or app!
- Your recorded measurements are now securely uploaded and managed online.
- All data is available from the new Dashboard on my website - just log in via the Subscriber Login menu.
- You can view and analyze your CoreTemp data for up to 7 days after upload.
- After 7 days, all session data is automatically deleted for privacy and storage optimization.
- You can download any of your sessions in JSON format - simply click the “Download (JSON)” button next to each session on the Dashboard.
How to access your data:
1. Go to felixgear.net and click on Subscriber Login.
2. Log in with your Donor ID and registered email.
3. Use your personalized Dashboard to view your recorded data and download it if needed.
Important:
- If you wish to keep your data for longer than one week, make sure to download your sessions in time.
v7.6.7
Improved the realism of natural core temperature fluctuations:
Your core temperature now follows a more realistic daily (circadian) rhythm, gradually rising during the afternoon and lowering overnight - just like in real life.
v7.6.5-7.6.6
Core temperature correction is now less strict: the app adjusts your estimated body temperature more responsively based on your sensor data and daily changes
v7.6.4
Adjusted scenario detection conditions for improved accuracy
v7.6.2-7.6.3
New scenario: Casual activity
A new scenario called "Casual activity" has been added. This state detects typical, everyday movements - like walking around the home or office - where all sensor values remain within normal ranges.
Why?
This update reduces the number of unclassified (fallback) states, making the app’s feedback more accurate and relevant to your daily life.
v7.6.1
Scenario transitions are now more sensitive, allowing faster and more accurate detection of state changes!
v7.6.0
Fixed notifications (VERSION JUMP)
v7.5.7-7.5.99
Fixed notifications
v7.5.5-7.5.6
Fixed some other scenarios.
v7.5.1-7.5.4
Fixed NORMAL_REST scenario behavior
v7.5.0
Due to severe memory limitations on older devices, I had to reduce the number of compatible watches. Thank you for your understanding!
v7.4.2
Quick fixes in starting process
v7.4.0-7.4.1
Added a new Progress View to indicate background operations (e.g., export function).
Minor code optimizations and improvements.
v7.3.0-7.3.1
Refactored Scenarios
